Title: Log deck chain
Post by: PAmizerman on May 09, 2023, 07:35:38 PM
I picked this deck up at an auction. It had no chain. Can anyone tell me if it takes a
wh82 mill chain or something different

Oh man someone butchered that up somewhat. Normally it would have W 78, 2.609 steel chain but not anymore. You can measure tooth center to tooth center to get the pitch and go to a catalog that shows that size pitch chain. Or you could cut those sprockets off the shaft and get 78 steel , bored to the shaft dia., cut them in half and and weld them [to the shaft]. Don't laugh, I run one done this way and have for years. You can even cut 78 sprockets from 1" plate with a torch, done that too. With heavy steel and slow speed a little wump and wobble means nothing.
