Hi ya's
well i have a small prob and i kinda think i'm getting shafted >:( i have 3 dolmars 109 ,si120 and a PS 9010 now a bit over a year ago i had a prob with the fuel line on the PS9010 motor was leaning out, over reving ..could not find the prob for a while then one day just by chance i seen a weep on the fuel line ...tank to carb ...ok so replaced it must be about 13-14 months ago ...now went to crank my saw up and filled the tank and petrol poured out every where ,took the cover off and the "NEW" line was @$%^&ed :'( (broken in half and eaten away) (NOTE this fuel line is 1 bit from pick up head to carb with a rubber insert in tank) now this is where it gets a tad strange ..... the saw is on a sawmill out side uncovered apart from the norm chainsaw covers so most of the sun light is off it and alot of rain could not get in it may have had some fuel left in it but alot of small motors live out side all there lifes in fact i have 2 honda motors on pumps that have spent all there life 5 year + out side and never had a prob :o ... so i think the left outside story is a load of bull all saws working outdoors get sun on them and the temp working would be higher than the sun ...... now bad fuel come in to the story too but if it was poor fuel why is it only happening on the PS9010 and not the others and if it was fuel why is the bit inside the tank not eaten too ?? only other thing i could think of is maybe acid from the pine maybe getting on the rubber when it gets sucked in with air but that would eat the mounts too .....i asked 2 mates who are in the motor trade if there had been a run of bad gas and they had seen a lot of eaten lines in the last year or so ,there reply was no more than norm and these were old lines ....
any ideas ?? i got the never heard of it 5!@#%^&* and never ever sold one from the importer i know this is crap as i brought one last year ... and also got the bad fuel story from the dealer but once i said "why have the other not done it ?" even his story changed to the "oh it's outside story "
would ya take it right to the top and talk to the maker ??
the other 2 saws i have had a good run with and never had to change the lines the SI120 is almost 20 years old
thanks for reading my rant

Was that quality fuel line or vacuum hose? The latter won't take gas very well. although old gas sitting in the fuel lines for over a year is pretty hard on them too.
Hi ya
hard to say what it is ,i know the hose on the SI 120 is a braded line with a coating on the line ....the end that was still in the tank i tryed to break NOTE the word tryed ! :o thats where the "fuel made it rot " idea comes unstuck ...just don't realy know why it rotted so fast and to have 2 fuel lines go in about the same amount of time is strange the frist one broke down in a short space of time too maybe 12 months and in that time it was being used a lot more ... kinda a strange one

Hi ya's
looked in to a few things and wonder about a thing called dry rot the efects rubber .. the fuel line is ribbed and i'll try to make a pic of it useing "O" a little o is the line and a big O is the rib starting at pick up head it's ooOoooOoooOoooOoooOoooO (then gromet in tank)OoOoOoOoOoOo ending at carb now the OoooO part of the line has a lot of flex in it as the pipe has to be bent a long way be for the ribs touch where as the OoOoO part of the pipe only needs a slight bent before the ribs touch and strech the rubber on the outside of the bend ,with the line being dry the rubber breaks down faster and with the rubber being streched this i think made a weak point that broke ,i looked at the pipe today and the inside of the bend is ok ...what do ya's make of that idea ??
