How to try and find a Lost Android phone in the middle of an Upper Peninsula Forest. - YouTube (https://youtu.be/DguKQLDBy9Q)
While breaking a new property access trail almost a half mile back, I find on returning to the cabin, that I had lost my phone. I had trekked all over during the time it was lost, and the ringer was off. This is the story how I lost it, and more importantly, how I found it.
Thanks for the info Jeff,
What app are you using to locate your boundary lines?
On X hunt. Love it. I May not love it soon though, as I think I'm about done on the first year's subscription and it'llneed renewed.
Well done!
Congratulations on an innovative way to find the lost phone. thumbs-up
That would have been an expensive lost.
Cool, all is not lost 8).
Michelle has a chip thing that must be using a similar program on Mucca's collar. It logs in on any phone in range of the collar and will record a gps of his last known whereabouts near a phone on google earth.
Ah the connected world. I tried the google find for my phone and it worked. I didn't push the sound phone for five minutes though. Thanks for the great tip.
I am usually more scared of breaking my phone than losing it.
The chicken dinner winner was the ring even if ringer is off function. Without that, even though I now knew basically where the phone was, I doubt I could have found it.
Love a story with a happy ending... Jeff Wins! 8)
Not my favorite way to rack up 20,815 steps in a day on my fitbit.
I lost my phone in 2015 on a snowmobile rescue mission a few miles into the back country. Luckily when we pinged it on "find my phone" it had enough signal to give us a general location. Like yours my ringer was off, but luckily it was dark when we got back up there and the screen lit up the snowbank it was buried in. So if all else fails wait until dark and look for the illumination :D
Good tip on the darkness helping instead of hindering the find.
.
The odds are pretty good, 50/50 that it lands with the screen up.
Just wee bit better odds than winning the Mega-Millions jackpot!
Jeff look behind the seat in the pickup . Thats where I found mine 3 weeks after I bought a new one . I was sure I lost it on my skidding trail
I've had to find my dad's phone like that twice in the woods. They have iphones and I have android. I went into their house and used his Ipad and the find my Iphone app and could see where his phone was. Used my phone as the hotspot so his ipad could have wifi while I walked out there. Hit the button to make it make noise a couple times and found it. It was buried under leaves and had to be right on top of it to find it. The last time he called me and said he had lost it again I used the find my iphone and said your phone is in the parking lot at the auto mechanic. They had taken a car in for service and he had left his phone in the car.
For our phones which are all android I can just look at google maps on anything I'm logged into and I can see the boys phones, but not cindy's for some reason. We also have life 360 which shows all 4 phones. I can see where they all are whenever I want. I can choose a phone and make it make noise. We use that feature in the house when it falls into the couch cushions or wherever we have misplaced it. Its a great thing, especially with kids. I can see how close Cindy is to being home from work so I can know when to have dinner ready. The poor kids though. They will never be able to do what I did when my parents didn't know where I was.
Some lucky. I lost a Garmin GPS once, never found it. It's not an expensive GPS, but still costs money. :D
I lost my glasses twice in the woods. Found them each time.
