guess I could rub it on my face and see if it attracts people or breaks me out in a rash. or ask you! what @Cardiodoc (https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=profile;u=51488) read is that poison oak and ivy have a stem on the leaf, and the fragrant does not, although leaves of three. oh, and there is a bonus bug on a lower leaf.
Plant Net identifies it as Fragrant Sumac. So rubbing it on your face might help make you more popular.
Doc, pretty neat find (at least for Virginia). The leaflet won't have a bud as it attaches to the leaf stem. If you think of a walnut leaf it is like that, the leaf attaches to a stem where you'll see the bud. Also it seems that a pair of rubber gloves and crush the leaf it should smell like lemon. Either way that's about as close to Poison Oak as you'll get. Thanks for the pics.
that makes sense. what about the little gold beetle bug? :D :D. I asked him what it tasted like, but he refused to try it.
