Title: DIY portable log deck
Post by: woodman52 on October 08, 2023, 06:15:24 PM
There was a recent thread about a log deck and mention in past posts. I thought I would show my solution to a portable log deck that I use for a firewood processor but it could also be converted into a deck for a sawmill. I made this a while back but just posted a YouTube video of it. So for those interested here it is. Let me know what you think. It is pretty cob job but was just meant to get the job done.

Pretty slick. Anytime you can make firewood easier it's a bonus lol  Tell me about your tires. Do they have air?

The tire have air because I pumped them up before I moved it. They are more than 45 years old so I am surprised that they even hold air for a couple of days. It doesn't matter because when it is set up the tires don't touch the ground. Everything is held up by the pipe in pipe. It is light and I have moved it around with no air in the tires and it does not even break the bead. If the tires touched the ground when in use it would be an issue, the springs would allow it to move and it would lose alignment with the processor, even if the tires held air long term. As it is currently set up it is very rigid and does not move. Unless you hit it with the tractor  :D
