Rabbit, it's like Chicken with more drumsticks and less wings.  ffcheesy

In NZ and Aussie a Meat Pie is generally a small (hand sized) "delicacy", usually sold as a takeaway. Quality does vary of course, but a good chicken and veg pie will have filling like MM's. Or even better, a Butter Chicken Pie, with the chicken in a tomato curry sauce.

  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meat_pie_(Australia_and_New_Zealand)

QuoteThe meats allowed by FSANZ to make up at least 25% of a meat pie are beef, buffalo, camel, deer, goat, hare, pig, poultry, rabbit and sheep. Kangaroo meat, a leaner alternative, is also sometimes used
It's usually beef here, we don't have many Camel / Buffalo / Kangaroo, that's probably more an Aussie thing.

I make pie crust for mine. Sometimes I do cheat on the sauce/rux in mine and use cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soup if I don't make my own.

Have eaten a few chicken pot pies as well as beef pies and shepherd's pies (creamed potatoes on top). I've also had rabbit (hare) stew. ;D

We make it using cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup, diced up leftover chicken or turkey, mixed frozen veggies and my wife dices up a couple taters and carrots. We use thin biscuit dough for crust. Be sure to use plenty of black pepper in your seasoning.

My chicken pot pie started as a camp Dutch oven thing. Sauteed onion, potatoes, carrots, garlic and cubed chicken. Add a big can of cream of chicken and get it bubbly. Throw in some peas and top with cornbread batter. Cool until cornbread is done/brown. Usually a good inch to something two inches of cornbread on top!
