Title: Common rafter to plate joinery on low pitch roof
Post by: Rylesmcmillin on February 14, 2024, 07:34:03 PM
I'm looking for joint ideas joining common rafters to a plate. My rafters are 6x6 and plate is 8x8. The roof is a 6/12 pitch. Maybe I'm over thinking it but it seems too low pitch to use a step lap joint.

Do a google search for Historic American Joinery. and download the free pdf file.
Go to section 5 for Roof joinery. Look at all the different choices and find one that works for you.
