I qualify for hearing aids but hesitate to get them because of working and sweating with ear muffs on at the sawmill. I also have ear wax buildup which hearing aids could impact. Do any of you wear hearings aids at the sawmill and do you have problems?
hate to say it but I've worn hearing aids over 40 years and have never had any that could handle moisture from sweating or wax. I never wear mine when working especially around noise. Jack
My hearing aids come out and earplugs go in when I am working.
I take my hearing aids out at the mill as well. One time though, I forgot and put my muffs over my hearing aids. When I took the muffs off in the A300 bobcat to talk to someone, they both fell out and I didn't notice till later when I realized what I had done. I was looking for them when my son Warren drove up. I explained to him what I had done. He said "so let me get this straight, you put your muffs over your hearing aids cause you wanted to hear nothing as clearly as possible?"🤣🤣🤣

That statement is a true jewel. ffcheesy
I mute the microphones on mine and can't really hear anything but the phone if it rings or streaming music with custom molds. Just got the new Jabras that are sealed and rechargeable and no sweat problems anymore. My old Rextons were very sweat sensitive.
Percy, I'm thinking maybe the nut didn't fall too far from the tree?😂
My wife was getting increasingly hard of hearing and she was always asking, what? Repeat yourself. She got hearing aids recently and now because she hears so well she speaks very softly and I am now saying, what? Repeat yourself.
boo you also need to be mindful of what you mutter under your breath in answering your wife. :snowball: ffcheesy ffcheesy ffcheesy
Right doc, because she can hear me now. ffcheesy
Yup. and the last five ads have now been for hearing aids. "can you hear me now?"! :snowball: :wink_2: ffcheesy ffcheesy ffcheesy
No hearing aids yet .
Been looking at new hearing protection though.
What is everyone using?
Do the noise cancelling ones really work? bluetooth? Can you talk on your phone with the mill running?
I have some for shooting. they dull the shot and amplify speech, I play old country music on Bob Wills radio on Pandora, and I think can answer my phone, but never have. I think it will read a text out loud. 3M Peltor I think.
@Percy, the more I think about it, those words need to be put into a song. :wacky:
I use 3M Bluetooth ear muffs that are paired with my cellphone. Has rechargeable batteries. I can push a button on the side and answer and talk on my phone. I really like them.
@Percy Oh the suspense - did you find the little buggers or did you sow them for a crop of 'em for next year?
You should really consider coming up with a song as MM suggested. Why it might get you some fame or a place on the wall of shame.
