Title: A huge thanks
Post by: kkcomp on October 13, 2024, 08:41:25 AM
I have learned much since joining this forum and want to thank so many of you for sharing knowledge, tips and suggestions.

But I really want to give a special shout out to the YellowHammer (Robert). Your YouTube videos and posts in this group have made a world of difference in my milling.I mostly appreciate that you do this to keep genuine sawing alive so it doesn't become another lost art. There are a lot of people making sawdust and boards but you make it an art form and your willingness to share knowledge give me a desire and method to always seek a higher level of quality and efficiency.

I really appreciate that.  My reason for doing the videos has morphed over the years, I have done 146, and never thought I'd get past 10.

So this weekend, I had something happen that made me smile all day, and really reinforce why I make the videos.  I got a call from a guy from up north, who asked if he could buy a T shirt and have it shipped overseas to his wife who is deployed to Kuwait for Uncle Sam.  He said he and his family run a small sawmill, so she "knows" sawmilling, and she and several others gather up and relax at the end of the day by watching my videos because it is "real sawmilling" and reminds her of home.  He said she can't stand to watch the Spandex Sawyers because she knows it's all BS.  So I told him that we normally don't ship our "bling" but that if he would give me her shipping information over there, I would figure out a way to get her a shirt, free of charge, as soon as possible.  So he again offered to pay for it, plus shipping and I said, no, that wasn't an option.  All I needed was her size and color she would want, and it would be on the way.  It's hard to believe that my videos of a crotchety old man, his wife, and his dog sleeping while he saws lumber and yaks about it can make other people's life more enjoyable, take their mind off their job for awhile and remind them of the good old USA.  How could that not make anyone feel good?

Well, I guarantee you, more people know his name than mine!  Just this weekend, Martha took him up to the house and a person drove up and asked "Where is Mr. Chips?"

He is famous, I'm just "the guy who works there." ffcheesy

Even though I no longer have a sawmill, I still keep up with all things sawing. This is one of the best things I have read in a while.

Good news, the Hobby Hardwood T shirt and hat successfully made it to Kuwait, and we got a gracious thank you from the soldier today!

This is a good day.

Hobby Hardwood T shirts and hats have made it home to the west coast of BC after our visit with Chip Martha and Robert.
They are spreading around the world.

Yes, that was a fun visit, thanks for dropping by.  We have a lifetime warranty on our hats and shirts, if you wear them out, you get new ones.  Since we don't ship, it means you have to come back to get one, which means we get to see you again!

Mr. Milton:
You sure have a different way of attracting repeat customers.
Sure glad you made a policy exemption for the overseas soldier.
Give CHIP a treat for me.
