Having trouble posting pics . Have 2 new pics in my gallery but for some strange reason I can no longer figure out hoe to get them to post . Getting old I guess . Need help from Adm .

Well it seems to sort of work . The link once clicked on shows the pic of the sled .
These are new bare plastic sleds we bought from Karyon in Ontario . I bought 5 . One for myself and four for a couple buddies of mine . I have dressed mine out and extended it ( plastic is only 10 ft long, we need 12 ft for log hauling ) hence the extension .
I think these wlll be a great sled . The plastic is a special recipe . It's also dimpled on the top side so not so slippery to work around .

They look like good sleds for what you do - always enjoy your working pictures ! Hopefully we get a normal winter but no hit of it here yet. Going to be 77*F here today and only a few light frosts so far.

Right click on your image, copy image address.
In your post, when you're writing it, you go to the little image inserting icon. Click on it. Paste the address in the first box, and click insert.
We see those sleds being used for packing moose meat out of the bush.
They're a good strong blend of some magic plastic that can take abuse in cold temps.
Good idea with the two bunks to keep the logs up a bit, for lashing them down.
I've wondered how the spruce, pine and fir work out for you. They're small diameter, which (over here anyway) makes for a fair bit of waste because of twisting and checking during the air dry. I realize that you're working with what you've got due to your remote location. Have you got a technique for air drying that maximizes your return on all that hard logging work?

I have been using these plastic sleds for the past 11 years . The ones I use I built from scratch 11 years ago . It was all a trial for me . I realized after a bit that the plastic I was using was not exactly correct . It had a tendency to crack . That being said I have used my two sleds for the past 11 years and have hauled many thousands of logs on them .

These new black sleighs are a special plastic proven not to break in the cold .
I had 5 of these ordered . One for me and the other 4 for a couple buddies of mine .
Since this plastic is only in 10 ft lengths it requires adding a 2 ft bunk extension on the back in order to accommodate longer logs .
Another issue we have been addressing is the height of the tow hitch's on the newer model snowmobiles.My new Polaris Titans hitch is 8 inches higher than the hitch on my Yamaha VK Prof.
What some people aren't realizing is that this requires a rework of you hitch on your sled . You ave to modify the tow bar on the sled to accommodate this extra height . If you don't it will not tow well with a load at all .
Your machine and your sleigh have be a ( matched pair) if not your going to have problems .its a bit of a science and it has to be right .
Waiting on winter now to try it all out . We will be moving our sleds and gear ashore by boat to our winter cabin in the next week . Lots of prep work. Hope we get a good winter .

Some of the logs we cut last winter. We moved these with the boat in the summer . Very little snow last winter . We had our ice bridge for just two weeks and it was very thin .

Well, here's hoping for good logging weather this winter. Not enough snow beats up the snowmobiles and thin ice gives me nightmares.
Is that frozen winch line hanging in the tree to the left and in the background?
Do you parbuckle the logs up into the pile with a gas powered winch?
That rope you see there is tied back to a couple smaller trees . This helps to strengthen the small trees you see in front
We then hitch a snatch block to those trees and use our winch to pull the logs up in the pile .piling by hand is hard work . Even with the smaller logs .
The pic here shows the importance of a proper towing setup . Both these loads were towed the same distance over the same trail . The ( snowed up ) sleigh is being towed behind my Titan . As you can see the setup is not correct for that machine and I had to redo it .
Simple things that make a world of difference .
