Title: STIHL 34 Wood Boss
Post by: Boogie on October 29, 2024, 04:33:51 PM
I have a STIHL 034 Wood Boss.  I haven't used this saw but to cut up an occasional tree.  I just recently moved to where I can cut my own firewood, and can really start using this saw.  I fell 4 trees about 22" in diameter, using my 20" bar, and it it really a cutting son of a gun!  I can't remember when I bought this saw new, but it was in the late 1990's. It has an adjustable chain oiler, and a worm gear chain adjuster under the bar.  Does anyone know what years this saw was made, and what cc the engine is?  Thanks!

Stihl 034 Wood Boss Specifications
Here are the key specifications for the Stihl 034 Wood Boss Chainsaw:
It's a powerful and versatile chainsaw, great for heavy-duty tasks. First made, 1984.

Still a great saw for its age.

What I don't get, is my saw has the worm gear chain tensioner on the end of the saw by the bar.  Is that what you mean by the side tensioner?  Thanks!

No, that's the old school tensioner. Perhaps they revised it somewhere along the way. A side tensioner is accessed through the clutch cover. It's a little more complicated in design, but makes it much easier to use.
