I won one of these Canthooks at the 2024 Pig Roast and can attest that while I haven't used it, and actually gave it to someone who would, it is a very nice tool. Very high quality and it feels great in the hand.
I have two of their peaveys and I have gifted 2 others in the past at annual meetings of our woodlot owner association. I used one of mine on a huge spruce that laid in grass for a long time and soaked up water like sponge. It was very heavy and 24" in the middle, probably 12' long. Normally spruce is not so full of water. Well, thankfully, there was a little down hill in the direction it was to roll. I had to move it away from a road I needed to use for access. The owner had forgotten it was there to keep people from tramping his planted fields. And finally, last year it has become law that you need to ask the owner for permission to cross land for hunting purposes. That is 99.9999% of all tramping across land here, outside of farming. Anyway, Logrite makes great products. Good luck all.
aigheadish and swampdonkey
thanks for the compliments!
This seems like a no brainer. It is just pennies per day to subscribe to get rid of those annoying ads and get into the drawing for an awesome cant hook/peavey.
Thank You Tammy for stepping up and Sponsoring this Christmas Canthook Giveaway. logrite_cool
Yes, thank you for sponsoring this giveaway. I have a yellow 60" super heavy duty one I bought many years ago. With my manual mill and BIG logs, we've had two people jumping on it to move things without any issue. Well built products!
I'd imagine they'd be real mean home defense weapons, if needed, as well. I'm not really into zombie stuff but...
I own 2 of the 60" cant hooks from LogRite and consider them a piece of my safety equipment. How many times have you seen a poorly built/designed cant hook slip and the resulting bruises (Black eyes?) from someone hitting themselves in the head or falling over a log or having one roll back on them. LogRite bite and hold on like a mad snapping turtle. I love mine.
Just giving this a little bump. Jeff I wanted to point out that the banner looks great in the full desktop view, but I am not seeing it in the phone version and I think a lot of our readers just use their phone. SO I thought I would point that out. Perhaps moving it into the sponsors banner will take care of that?
-------------------------------------
Anyway, I wanted to do something to help this along. Since I already have numerous LogRite Cant hooks and peaveys and enjoy them very much I thought it would be nice to see if we can get one in the hands of somebody who hasn't not yet learned the joys of ownership of one of these fine tools.
SO, if by some chance my name is pulled out of the hat, I hereby request that a second name be drawn and the prize goes to that lucky winner. This has to potential to double everyone's chances.
When I do get my next hook, I think I am going to try to convince Kevin to make me a racing peavey, not because I am in a hurry, but because it would work really well on our mill deck. I know these are not sold to the general public for various reasons, but that's my goal anyway. Peavey or cant hook, it doesn't matter, these are great tools!
You sure do know the meaning of giving!!!!!
I recall the joy I experienced when I got the first 60" cant hook and discovered how much better and safer it worked over my classic wooden ones. I wanted to share that joy with a new owner if possible.
We have a 78", a 60", and a mill special, plus a 48" peavey and a 30" pickeroon (boy that's a handy tool!). I can't speak more highly of the quality and durability. Despite ridiculous abuse at times the only damage I have managed to do to these is gall up the label and scratch the powder coat on one when I used it as a pry bar to move a larger log splitter around a bit.
Somebody else should feel that joy when there is so much junk in the world today.
Not to make it complex, but I'm with Tom, my name can be removed from the list of potential winners. They are great hooks but I don't have much use for one, as the zombies around here are kept at bay.
I bought a peavey for the stepson. He does not cut many trees down, but does cleans up with his tractor. He really likes the peavey!!!!!!!
I already decided last week when Jeff announced the contest, what I would do if I won. ffwave
Austin leave your name in with an automatic rollover over for another draw. That way you get to see if you are still a lucky guy. ffcheesy
You may have decided Lyn but you are the only one who knows what you decided on. :wink_2:
Three members know the meaning of giving. super-smiley
What do we do if we get more people giving back than we have entries to draw from?
Have a drawing of any new active members in the last 6 months?
I if I had won the hook, and I have been thinking of this for awhile while up in the deer stand, this whole raffle reminding me of a scene out of one of the best movies ever made - Sergeant York. If I had won it, I was thinking of doing a force multiplier to bring in new members but not sure exactly, how, but I had lots more deer hunting and mulling to do - But..the plan kept coming back to the shooting contest for Lem's Beef Critter. I was kind of thinking a subsequent (maybe New Years'd Day) sub raffle for all existing members including premium subscribers if I had won the hook. At an additional $10 per entry for Premium and Existing members only, I would give the winner the hook, and the proceeds go to the Forum. That would give the Premies a second chance if they desired, and any other members a shot as well. A chance to cut center bull.

My decision is not a give back and redraw but rather a "re-gift" and you are correct Tom, only I know what my decision is.
My three helpers, couldn't log without them.

That picture was from 2012, all three still going strong today.
Someone's odds are going to be really good on winning a Canthook
Today and tomorrow yet to get signed up for the canthook drawing, and if you get signed up now, you will also be entered for next months drawing! Joe Maine has us hooked up to draw a winner for a free box of Wood-Mizer bandsaw blades from our list of Premium Subscribers at the end of January!
That's a great offer! Thanks Joe Maine!
I bought a bow to put on the cant hook I hope to win! Is that forward thinking???
I don't own a Woodmizer mill but have been using their bands on my little mill and they do a good job.
Same here. I built my mill specifically to fit the .042x1.25x184" 10°WM blades. I think I've bought 3 or 4 boxes. Down to about 25 old ones. Very happy with them. (I need another box...)
You have pretty good odds! ffsmiley
The odds are a lot better than the lottery, that's for sure! I just did a count.
We have a winner for our first Premium Subscriber prize drawing.
Congrats to
@jeeper9574 !!! ffwave ffcool

Now it's time to change that banner and put up the next drawing don't you think Jeff?
Jeff went up to the cabin yesterday morning, so internet is about impossible to get work done with. :sunny:
Wow this is awesome! ffcool Yea I have been offline for a few days, this was a great surprise to come back to! Thank you Logrite and the Forestry Forum!
I don't post much but read most topics nearly every day. I have learned so much and enjoy following along on everyone's projects and lives. Still hoping to build a sawmill in the near future, but there always seems to be other priorities. I will get there some day.
Thanks again
@Jeff and
@logriteofficial and Merry Christmas! And thanks to all for the congratulations!

Gotter up.
Harold and I made a trip to the cabin. We needed to see our longtime mutual friend Vic, the fellow I got my cedar shingles from for my pavilion. 2 days before Christmas Vic's wife died suddenly, while Vic has been in the hospital. They flew his wife to the lower peninsula but could not save her. Vic is too sick to travel. Cancer, so he could not be with her. We went to visit him and to see how he was. Tough deal. I hope we are still able to see our friend again in the spring. His spirits seemed good. Better than we expected. It sure sucks to get old and have everything start falling down around you.
Jeff, so sorry about your friend Vic, yes, it sure does suck I have been thinking on that a bit too much myself these recent weeks.
Banner looks good, let's all beat the drum now. C'mon folks, time to climb aboard!
You guys are good friends to check in on him. Yep, it sucks when everything falls in.
