Afternoon,
I tried updating some of the info in my signature. I got into my profile, made adjustments, even hit "preview". When I went to save, maybe change, I got an error message HTML in red at the top of the screen. I tried it a couple of times on my tablet and said heck with it, I'll try the real computer machine. Same thing, same message. I tried deleting my avatar pic, thinking maybe that is the HTML thing, but still no dice. Am I missing something here?
Thanks in advance,
Matt
I just changed mine to see if it was working and it updated for me.
Maybe try again and let us know.
I just tried again Mooseherder, no go. The only thing I've gotten to change was I took my avatar away...the one thing I kinda wanted to keep! I can't alter any words or delete any. I get the html warning
I'd try restarting the computer to see if that works.
Pm me if it doesn't work and I'll see if I can enter it from here.
I am not able to update my profile either. I get the same message that GRANITE described above. I started trying to change it a couple of months ago and was unsuccessful.
That makes me feel like less of a screw up!
I will try a reboot in the am, but I'm pretty sure I did all that when I first tried doing this a couple months ago
I tried a test in both Granite and Magicman's signature line and it says token error when I click change profile. Sorry guys, we're gonna need someone else with more knowledge than me. Weird that I can update mine but not yours.
My profile updates correctly. The error seems to indicate that a token(user ID with session info) is used to validate the profile update process and there is something with the token that is not working right. I seem to remember previous threads on the subject. When I search for token though, I see that token is not token for granted in thread posts. :uhoh:
There might be something in the server logs to point you in the right direction.
rustic,
I'm not sure what any of that means...BUT, I think I still have an arcade token from last fall. I will look for it and try inserting that sucker into my tablet
Thank you both for trying!
It is a forum software bug from the last update. Anyone that had any kind of tags in thier signature prior to last years updates have been stuck. It has been noted by the vendor and is on the list of things to be fixed in the next version supposedly. I have not found a way for me to correct it other than blanking every sigle members signature. So, I wait.
I was able to find a fix for individuals, but I have to go into the raw database, find the specific profile table, fine the signature column in that table and blank it. This seems to fix the issue, for that profile. A long path to a easy fix. Im willing to go in for individuals that want it, until we get a real fix, to go in and blank out your signature so you can start anew
Guys?
Hit that error back in July.
HTML error (https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?topic=124877.msg2040331#msg2040331)
Can't use quote marks on your signature.
So the fix is for someone to write a program to access the database, go through the signatures and remove the tags(whatever they are), quote marks and what not. An alternative is for the program to just identify signatures that are problematic and blank them.
Or you can just sit on your tookus and wait. Decisions decisions.
I tried to make a change without any punctuation whatsoever; removed the hyphens, quotes, apostrophes, etc. and still "no go".
I beleive the bug goes across the entire profile, including custom fields.

That sounds like a lot of work just to make some changes. I'm fine waiting til the next update and the vendor doing the work. Thanks to all that looked into this, and found a solution, but please don't do all that tech stuff, I can wait!
