Title: Gearmatic 8A question
Post by: jerrymidd on March 12, 2025, 04:03:33 PM
I need to remove this center adjustment piece on a Gearmatic 8A. I have tried penetrating oil, heating and made my own spanner. Not moving at all.
Any suggestions?

On my 8a it was really stuck on there too. I used a cold chisel and a hammer to get it to turn.

I have found that the only way to get those to free up is too heat it up red and pour cold water on it to break it free. I made a tool from flat bar and welded a nut in the center.

Thanks for the help. I finally got it off. I also made a spanner that I bolted to it, heated it up and beat it loose. Now I just hope I can get my winch going.
