Title: Real Horsepower on Display , 2 Mile Long Train
Post by: weimedog on April 20, 2025, 07:59:47 PM
This from my "other" YouTube channel that pretty much deals with anything NOT saw & logging related. Trains, Boats, Outboard  builds, basically the rest of my world.

Got this one a week or two ago. Absolutely the longest train I have ever seen in this part of the country. It's unusual to see a train in the 700 axle range, forget 900! This was actually 9 hundred axles more than two miles long... enjoy. :)

Cool train.  BNSF is making a lot of money moving oil that would have moved by pipeline had Mr. Biden not cancelled it.  It probably didn't hurt that Warren Buffet owns BNSF and is a big donor to the Democratic party.

It's still a very cool train.

Looked like 2 "unit trains" tied together, one of tank cars and one of coal cars. Couldn't tell for sure on the tank cars, but the coal cars were all empties heading back to be reloaded. If all they're pulling are empty cars, they can put together huge trains like that and don't need as much horsepower to move.
