Title: Sleep-over guest
Post by: beenthere on June 08, 2005, 04:17:44 PM
Found this 'visitor' hanging out in our small patch of shooting stars this morning. Left about 2:30 this afternoon.

It's a fawn. I almost walked over it early this morning, but it stayed put.

I was mowing in my lower field around the garden yesterday when I looked up and saw a deer feeding about 200' from me paying little attention to me.  Not sure if she might have had a little one nearby but wouldn't surprise me.
My father watched one lay down in a field some years ago.   He decided to walk out and see how close he could get to it.  He walked back and forth for 10 or 15 minutes and couldn't even find it, even though he had watched it lay down and marked the spot.

Nice picture beenthere !  I be very careful when out haybining and look for them little fawns because they refuse to get up and move until mom comes back . You have to name your new friend now.
