Title: RPM Gauge?
Post by: mike dee on June 03, 2025, 09:22:17 AM
Anyone using RPM meter on their saws?

What I want to do is find a stand alone 12V DC RPM gauge that has a digital readout AND a digital output to control a device based on the detected RPM speed.

The alternative is to use a sensor for RPM and use something like an Arduino as the PLC to control relays.

My goal is to add a speed sensor to my disc chipper to regulate the hydraulic in-feed motors. When the RPM is above a setpoint I want to actuate a hydraulic valve that runs the in-feed hydraulic motor. Right now I am doing this manually and I want an automation to start/stop the in-feed motor to prevent lugging the chipper.

Something like this with a speed sensor
