Hi all, on a periodic service last week my drive belt tension was a little under spec...12lbs approximately at 3/8" deflection. I began adjusting the treaded rod linkage to increase tension. I feel like I unthreaded (lengthened) the rod a long way to reach the 14lb spec. I was hoping to increase tension by a couple pounds to compensate for warmer belt temperatures/expansion but could not seem to get beyond 14lbs at 3/8". With this mechanical system I expected to be able to increase far above spec if ever needed. I'm only at 150hours total time on the mill. Anyone else experience something similar? I was reluctant to unthread the rod much more.
If you were adjusting while the clutch was engaged, then it sounds like you stripped the threads. It shouldn't take very many turns to get it within spec. I always adjust mine while the clutch is not engaged, then engage it and check it.

Sorry, poor original wording on my part (edited). Your description is how I am adjusting. Threads are not stripped.
Personally, I would not go beyond the Wood-Mizer's spec. I am sure that their R&D has already taken into account any changes that the belt, etc. might experience.
Look for something loose or bending as you tension it more. Steve
Hello
The LT70 adjustment.
Check bearings on blade wheel, tension idler etc.
Not sure what revision you may have. Newer versions and upgrade kits for the crank support kit is something we recommend.
The engine can be moved if adjustment is not achievable.
The drive belt idler can come in contact with the c frame, which means you need to move the engine and keep it aligned with all pulleys .
There is a grease fittting on the idler arm. If neglected it may affect the belt adjustment.
Would be glad to help. Give us a call at Wood-Mizer.
This is Marty from Pennsylvania WM
Thanks.

Thank you Marty. This is a 2024 model with only 150 hours. Every time I change a blade I check the band wheels for play, and grease the idler arm every 8-10 hours or so. No obvious issues so far. I will have a closer look tomorrow.
Hello,
Being it is a new mill you should just need to adjust as per manual. Grease the crank support bearing and check set screws on locking collar. We do adjust the engine frequently on the 70 when we do new mill preparation.
Hope this helps.
Is this a 70 or 70 Super? Wide or not?
I think that all of the current 70s are Super Wides!
