Title: 72LGX vs Low Profile on Old HomeLite/Oregon Bar ??
Post by: g_man on June 08, 2025, 09:00:00 PM
I have dragged an old HomeLite XL-12 out and want to put a new chain on it. It has a 47 year old Oregon sprocket tip bar marked 160---D196 which is 16", 3/8 pitch, and 50 gauge. I think the chain is low profile but not sure.

I would like to use a 72LGX chain that I have on hand but have read that you should not use a standard chain on a low profile bar. If this is true how do I determine if this is a low profile bar ?? Thanks

160-D196 is a standard 3/8" pitch bar. It's made for 72LGX. So you should be just fine.
