Title: people killed in their houses by trees
Post by: rebocardo on July 12, 2005, 02:43:40 PM
Here in GA, it seems people get killed on a regular basis by trees falling over in storms into their houses.

This week in Decatur GA a 40" Popular tree fell through a house and killed the husband. The only fortunate thing was the wife had gone downstairs to sleep with the kids in case they got upset with the thunder. It saved her life. Multiple trees fell over on the property as well, fortunately, they missed other dwellings and people.

Stick built houses always fair poorly when a large tree tips over. Six tons of wood dropping from 60 feet always wins over a 2x4 wall. The tree came close to slicing the two story house in half.
