Title: month long timberframe apprenticeship programs
Post by: logosoluser on November 28, 2005, 03:44:48 PM
I spoke with Goshen timberframes and they said the summer for 2006 was already full, so I was looking for other companies that had programs like that to get involved with this summer. I could devote a month or so to a program and I really want to start learning the craft. Can anyone recommend any other companies or individuals to contact?

Zeke posted links to a couple other ones (as well as Goshen) in this thread.  I did mine at Cowee Mountain.

Have you considered Heartwood ? They are closely affiliated with the Timber Framers Guild, in western Mass. I spent a week up there summer of 2003 and had a blast.

The have summer long apprenticeship in timberframing and weeklong (or less) workshops on other woodworking areas.

Not cheap, but if you are investing in a future career, these guys are the original article.

Easily close enough where you could run over to Boston for the weekend, and catch a Red Sox game, or stop by and buy some tools you never knew you needed from our own Jim Rogers ;-)
