Looks like a close race so far, predicting minority Conservative government with Stephen Harper. The Bloc and NDP have quite a few seets also.
Official numbers at this time of updated post
124 Con
103 Lib
51 Bloc
29 NDP
1 Ind
In the Atlantic Region the Liberals have most seats 19 and Conservatives have 9 seats.
Such a slim minority , I should have voted more often ;D
Goodbye Paul Martin. Welcome Steve Harper. Just hope he can do more for us lumberjacks :o :o
Brad.
I'm happy but I'm afraid his hands are tied being a minority government.
I'm not really happy with any of the parties :( None of them align completely with how I feel about issues, oh well, better than if it was no democracy!
I'm quite happy because I like how well "this hour has 22 minutes" can make fun of Stephen Harper. This will just be fuel to their fire. :D
You mean he wears a rug? Or maybe that's just a wolf in sheep's clothing. :D :D
Something tells me Rick Mercer is in for a few good years........ :D 8)
Yup ...Different Circus smiley_trap_drummer....Same Clowns smiley_clown smiley_jester ::)
Different Circus ....Same Clowns. Well said
I remember when the last western Conservative leader took office. He got swept under the rug after about 6 months. ::)
SD, is dat da guy wit da string between his mittens yer talkin' about. :D
Well when he covered his cold big ears, I couldn't tell what was between his mittens. ;D
Were on a roll! We might break a new FF record for a thread with all Canadian posters!!
Who's gonna be the wise guy to break our streak?? :D
Can ya tell I dont care much about politics? ;) :)
;D
Ignore him, he's from Michigan, that makes him nearly Canadian. ;D ;D ;D
Now you can´t call me Canadian...
Don't ask me how, but my son-in-law wound up golfing with some American lawyers up in Alaska one time. One of them said "You must be from Michigan, you have that Canadian sound" ;D
Anyhow - now Harper can wipe that silly grin off his face and get to work ;)
Well it's official, eh! You've been adopted JeffB :D :D :D :D ;D

Hey,Harper's trainer has been working on teaching him to smile for two years now so it might be a while before it gets wiped off. :)
A majority would have been nice but what the heck, were Canadians and we'll take what we can get eh.
Next time Rick Mercer comes to Washington, do yourselves a favor and lock him up. ;D :D
Reminds me, he's on in 2 minutes, CLICK :D :D

He lives too close to Fredericton. He needs to move to Carleton County for a few years. ;D :D
Congrates Canuck's, on a good democratic election.
However I wonder..Now that you have a conservitive leader "they" (The American media) say is more in line with the thinking of George Bush, what will happen. ???
I see from your posts the Canadians have already taken the state of Michigan :D :D :D :D :D

Max
Easy now Swamp, we dont need any of that riff-raff up here... :D Only the elete class live in Carleton County. :)
After some time in Carleton county I'd be speaking about things like this:
Once we done the patay duh break we should get out to da woods. Dat was some good skidder der ain't she wha? we be just a pith-cuttin her true da woods except dat der ain't a stick in der big enough to beat a dog with. Just big enough to get the wheeler fetched up on and need to get the fringgin wench out unless you just giv'er instead.
Now of course I went to school with the Carleton County french immersion students and learned a bunch more but I can't pull much else up outta my head right now ;D
Will be interesting to see if another minority government can do anything constructive or will we get an election in 18 months with the Conservatives blaming all their woes on the mess left by the Liberals. Now if Hedy Fry can just keep her mouth shut ::)
Jeff is close enough to be an honourary Canucklehead but Fred is questionable ;D

Hey, our GST is suppose to drop 2% now that Harper has climbed to the top of the heep. That ought'a bring you guys pooring over the border. Heck come packin and our border pratrol customs will run home claiming they have no way to defend themselves. ;D :D :D
I have no idea about y'alls politics, but I assume all politicians are pretty much the same no matter where they are in the world. BUT!.....I sure have enjoyed reading this thread. ;D 8)

Yeah, I seen that :o :o I guess it's a good thing our guys stopped them before they reached your side. :-\ :-\
Maybe they'll have to start a modern version of the Underground Railroad to help people escape the oppression on this side of the border. :D :D
Hey Swamp Donkey, is this Frank McKenna fellow who is presently the Ambassador to the US (or something like that) the same fellow who used to be your Premier, or whatever you call your "governor"? I remember seeing signs the last time I was in New Brunswick, probably 12 to 15 years ago, saying in French and English that they had "No Trust in McKenna, or some such wording.

Yup I knows too well about this governing system that we have in Canuckistan. 8) We all need to start the barter trade system back up and then we'll atleast know that we're getting a fair deal. Those knuckleheads in Ottawa don't know right from wrong cuz they got their heads so far up their @$$'s that they still think they are in the 1990's. :D :D 8) 8)
Brad.
I am glad he won maybe he will get rid of abortion and the rights/marriages for gays. Also a few stupid other things. One thing i wish canada would change is the metric system it has that place all messed up. Its like asking americans to be charged per quart for gasoline. If people where smart they would go to the states to fill up and back across the border. I need to add more pics of the job in vancover. That place is booming with work Alberta is going to be big in the next ten years. Starting pay i was hearing from a guy whos kid just went there is 125k canadian a year maybe i should go there instead of working in vancover. Like i have said before if china is allowed to invest in that place meaning the oil in the dirt up there. You just better put up a white flag.
Hallo Mometal 77, no offence but I'd (maybe we?) prefer not to take the thread in that direction.
And if you could start at 125K in Alberta I would be there. My best friend drives a heavy haul truck in Fort McMurray for 28$/hr but his one bedroom condo would cost 2000$ a month to rent unfurished/unheated.
Who left the door open?? ;D :D :D :D :D :D
Oh but my doors always open! As long as yer coming to yammer at me and not steal my stuff ;D

Yeah 125k is stretchin it quite thin. More like $45k - $60k and high cost of living, plus no tax break for isolation pay. They are crying for potential employees up there, that's why they're willing to pay that much, otherwise you'de be gettin considerably less.

That was in reference to buddy what's his name and the other feller. ;)
Oops :D Shoulda drank my coffee this am. It does remind me of some good words of wisdom for Canadians and North Dakota inhabitants. Buddy Whats his Name and the Other Fellers sang it few years back,
"Peeing in the snow and looking down the hole is the closest thing to spring time that I will ever know"

Hey if the Americans changed their system like they were suppose to maybe the Hubble would have worked better. :o :o I'm sure the metric signs and such are still in storage somewhere in the States, they just have to pull them out. ;)
I live 5 kilometres from the Peace Arch crossing (or 3 miles). People do go over for gas - or used to - you save about .20 cents a litre, but waste a 1/2 hour of your time, if you're lucky. Its kind of like a crap shoot now, you can be delayed at either border crossing and you pretty much need a passport to go south. Plus with the Canadian border guards running away from their post now, it's kind of hard to get home. :D :D

Doesn't matter how it's sold, it's still too high. And if we went by the gallon it would be 8 oz more than state side. ::)

I guess we're just dumb Canucks, eh? :D

Yeah, we wouldn't want all that pesky investment money, it would just pump up our economy, destroy unemployment, prolly even cause interest rates ta' go down ........ ::)
