Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on the Michigan border.

I'm thinkin' strongly on gettin' ta this show. Anybody else considering it?
Yup. Not sure if it's gonna work but it's a possibility :)
Anybody know if we need us a passport yet, so we can git back home? ???
I don't think so Chet. But, does your driver's license have a photo? They sometimes check licenses at the US customs.
I see one of the sponsors is Thomas Equipment. That's from right here in Centreville. I'm not sure if the head quarters is still here because China bought it from McCain Foods a year or so ago.

I've heard and read that passports are going to be needed in 2007, and have heard that a copy of the birth certificate was good to have along when coming back into the states now. The drivers license is used for a lot, such as boarding planes, but WI is one state that issues drivers licenses to anyone, without regard to citizenship. "cheapens" that document in a hurry, but WI thinks asking for more documentation will hurt their feelings.
I'd think the Expo would offer such information in their site that was cited. But I didn't see it. :)
I live 2 miles from a crossing here and all they ever ask for is a drivers license when going into Maine. They will be requiring a passport or a lesser costly form of ID by some time in 2007. Go and enjoy your expo. I don't know what's becoming of all this when you all are afraid of your own citizens coming home. ::)
The point is, I believe, that they are 'our' citizens coming home. :D
I'm tentatively planning on going if Chet goes. Our family cabin is only 45 minutes from the soo and we can stay there.
Pack yer bags, 'cause I'm goin'. :)
Don't see the info on their site.
Anyone know if there is an entrance fee and are we required to register in advance?
What about hours of operation?
You are not required to register in advance, but I did. May save some standing in line. :D
I got the brochure on it last week. It looks like the biggest event I will find with only a two hour drive. :)
That reminds me, I have to order some band blades from Wood-Mizer.
I wonder if LogRite will be there? ;D
If Logrite is there, I would like to talk to them about manufacturing a rock tong. ;)
:D :D :D :D :D
Maybe a giant sling shot like they made on PBS (in Scotland). Sorry, it's funny what someone writes sometimes spawns thoughts of past experiences. ;)
Here's the link from last year ...

Chet and his Bro in law, Nailhead, pasbuild and I will be converging on the eastern U.P. this Thursday at the cabin and attending the show on Friday from there. If there are any members coming up that want to stop in send me an instant message!
I want you all chained together wearing orange jump suits, I'll have the bus ready to take you to the gated resort. ;D
I was suppose to be in the Soo tomorrow and Friday at Lake Superior State College for the State SAF meeting and technical session and could have "tied in" with you fellas for the Forestry Expo, but I had to cancel due to the recent shoulder surgery.
Will be in physical therapy instead. :'(
I hope the weather straightens out for you guys. Looks like it might be a bit damp :(
Been damp here this week also. Wet woods, yuck!! {{Shiver}} ::) >:(
It rained a bit yesterday, I work north of the Sault and couldn't get the time to stop in but I'm heading there in an hour.
No rain right now but we could see some later.
Just got back home, cruising through the lot this morning I passed by the Vermeer dealer and stopped to talk with them.
The rep recognized my Forestry Forum hat and jacket and said he met two others from the forum there yesterday.
I asked him if they were dressed in orange and chained together and he said they were. ;D
I managed to buy my portable winch and some arborist supplies and get this ... I called Wood-Mizer about a month ago to ask if they would bring some band blades to the show.
The gal said that Dave was out of the office and would take my name and number and have him call me back.
Well I was on the road at the time so I said don't bother, I'll get back to him.
I got busy and lazy and didn't get around to calling back.
Today at the show I see Dave and jokingly ask if he brought any bandsaw bands for the LT-15 ...and he had!
The gal had remembered that I wanted bands for an LT-15 from a two second conversation on the phone and Dave loaded them up and delivered them.
NOW THAT'S SERVICE that can't be beat! Amazing!
Thanks, Wood-Mizer Canada.
Yup, I'll say. 8) 8) 8)
My experience with ordering stuff around here from places is they never bother. I guess they figure your not serious when you come in looking for a part. If they ain't got it in the isle, you ain't gettin it. Canadian Tire is the worst, the largest hardware store in Canada and it takes several weeks to get stuff. Kent Home isn't far behind, only they have 15 staff standing around talking and don't offer to help customers. ::) Stewarts is the best for ordering stuff, I can have it within 3 days.
Kevin so you were the guy with the hat and jacket at the vermier display early Sunday afternoon. :) You were busy talking so we walked up and down a few the rows came back and you were still talking. ;D So, we went into the ice arena side and of course when we got back you were gone. Couldn't find the trail of Coke cans stuck in the logs either. But the millers were mostly cutting cedar so they might not of stuck too well.
Sorry I missed meeting you Dana, I left there and went out into the parking lot and dropped a few bucks on some needies. ;D
We spent a good part of Saturday helpin to redesign most of the mills and wood processing equipment on the lot and had a good time doing it :D
(side note) to all of you equipment manufactures that will benefit from our valuable advice you can send our share of the royalties to the Forestry Forum ;D
:D :D :D
Didn't someone say something bout pics ???
All in good time Furb. I drove to much this weekend and my arm is in bad shape. Posting one handed pretty much. A night of rest and I should be ready to go.
Pasbuild and Nailhead have lots of pictures to! I'm not sure if we should post here or on another thread because our weekend was more about other things then the show, but the show was the excuse to get together.
Bob and Pat (OR CHET), feel free to start something I can jump in on if you want to get there first. ;)
Chet, ya gotta get Isaw-utah signed up! ;D
Your weekend driving was less then I do in a day, but I understand about the arm so I can wait! ;)
Wanted to make it up there myself but things didn't work out, so I'm looking forward to some pics from any of ya all!
We were surprised to discover an old friend at the expo as soon as we walked in. I had told Nailhead I didn't think he would get to see a swinger there and low and behold there was Hammy clear over from New Zealand.

I got to meet Dave from Wood-mizer Canada.

There were a couple things that Pasbuild wanted to take home with us. Here s a photo of the first one that would not fit in my truck. It's just a tiny tiny TigerCat The second one I'm afraid I can't post, but Bob sure wanted to find a way to get it in the back of my truck. DIDNT YA BOB? :D

What about the Canadian Farm Saw ???
I watched it for a bit. It had a very small blade on it, mebbe 36 inch. It seemed to struggle for power even though it had a pretty danG big tractor hooked to it. The lumber looked good. It had claims of 800 foot per hour but I gotta think that is cutting cants out of long timber. You can see here the blade was buried in the cut even on this small log.

Forgot, there was anudder thing Pasbuild wanted to take home but I think the scheming is on to build one instead.

Looks like a guy could have some fun woth this but seems like it would take some high dollar logs to make it pay.

What was the price tag on that ??? It would be fun :)
I dont recall to tell ya the truth.
They were 29K about five years ago and I think they might be up to 35K.
That tiny Tiger would be nice but I really don't have room in the driveway for it :( but one of them ATV log trailers would fit right nice.
Nailhead was tellin me how EZ it would be ta make one and now that he's officially retired and an EXPERT fabricator I think I'm goin ta havta go visitin and get me a big bowl of nella ice cream with Maple syrup and drop off my wish list. ::) ::) ::) ;D
Never been to any kind of logging or farm/logging type shows and I really like looking at stuff ! Been to the soo locks though . I just love pictures ;D
