Title: CONTEST! D&L Double Cut helps us welcome spring PIGGY ROAST STYLE!
Post by: Jeff on March 23, 2006, 10:06:29 AM
ENTRIES MUST BE SENT TO jeff@forestryforum.com
with the subject line: PIGGY CONTEST ENTRY
Include your username!

Guests are welcome to play along, but you must register to enter. :)

D&L Doublecut (http://www.doublecut.com) has graciously donated a very fine grand prize gift for the pig roast in August.  It will consist of a 2 night stay at the local bed and breakfast in Harrison, MI during the annual pig roast. If the Winner can't use it, it will be transferable. They have the choice of gifting it to another member that can use it or it can be donated back to the forum and we will then auction it to a forum member on Ebay. The proceeds from the Ebay Auction will then be given as a door prize at our traditional Pig roast prize drawing.

Here's how the contest works.  There are 10 pigs hidden within the Forestry Forum.  The first one to find one and email Jeff with the exact location will win a pig, which is actually a lighter. (check photo at bottom of the post) If you are the first to find a pig, your name will also be put into a drawing for the bed and breakfast stay.  Sorry, but you will be only able to enter the drawing once.  But, you can keep playing along because if you are the FIRST to find the Black pig, you get to have your name in the drawing THREE TIMES!.  If you find another pink one before anyone else, then the next eligible person to email Jeff will win the chance.

When a pig is found, another clue will be given to the board.  That will give you a direction for finding the next pig.  There are 9 pink pigs and 1 black pig.  To get to the black pig, you will probably need the clues of pigs #3, 6, and 9.  So, good luck.

As an added bonus, anyone else who finds the black pig before Midnight
(forum time) March 31th 2006, will also be included in the drawing.  You just won't be getting a fancy dancy pig lighter.

.....................................................................................................
Good luck and have fun!
Here's the starting clues to get you to your first pigs:
Think harvesting, poll, and iron.

Pig #1:  FOUND! BY Furby
Clue #1: "How hard can this be?  I guess I'll have to ask someone."
Clue #1 additional clue: "Who ya goona ask how hard can this be?"
Pig #2:   FOUND! BY isawlogs
   Clue #2:"If you're up a tree, you can't take a walk"
Pig #3:  FOUND! BY Sprucebunny
Clue #3: "Extra! Extra! Read all about it!"
Pig #4:  FOUND! BY DanG
Clue #4: "The picnic is the event you must show up for."
Pig #5:   FOUND! BY  johnjbc
Clue #5:"You'll never get board when D&L Doublecut is your sponsor!"
Pig #6:  FOUND! BY RichlandSawyer
Clue #6: "I can see for miles and miles"
Pig #7:  FOUND BY breederman
   Clue #7: "Don't go east"
Pig #8:  FOUND BY farmerdoug
Clue #8:"Drink this, just for the health of it."
Pig #9:  FOUND BY Brad S.
Clue #9:"There's sumpthin about this guy."
Pig #10:  BLACK PIG FOUND FIRST BY A FURBY!
But dont give up, you can still get your name in the drawing for the grand prize if you find it too!

Things to remember:

The first one to email Jeff after finding a pig, using the correct email address and subject line, wins that pig. The winners username, and the clue for the next pig will then be posted.

Pigs all look different. I had to tell Tom what a pig looks like. :)

Pigs like to squeal, but if you want to increase your chances of winning the grand prize, YOU WONT! ;D  (Dont share with yer buddy unless you are willing to decrease your odds)

If you somehow happen to find a pig that we dont know about, that is something that may have already been there and was a natural part of the forum content, HE DONT COUNT! :D

HAVE FUN! (And don't get to blurry eyed. ;))

I want to encourage all members to play along even if you have no intentions of coming to the pig roast. You can be involved if you win by giving the prize to a forum friend that is coming or auctioning it off to surprise a member with a cash gift that attends! :)

Here is a hint that may save you some time.  Using the search to search pig or swine or hog won't do you any good. :)

Go Furby Go!! :D :D

I must say, the last contest made me blury eyed for awhile. :D

Jeff, it's been such a mild winter, I've worn that jacket ever since last fall. Not in the house of cos. ;) Although, I can take a crispie cold day as long as I'm moving.  8)  I suppose I'll suffer for it when I'm about 60. :D

Good luck all.  :)

Problem is SD, Jeff learned a lot from last year and made changes. ;D
This one is a lot harder AND a game of chance, all I can do is improve my odds. ;)

Thanks for putting this together Jeff! 8)

Post by: Jeff on March 23, 2006, 05:15:35 PM
Head starts only mean you might get a pig, not the final prize.  ;D One thing about this contest is that eveybody is always even. When the new clue comes out, everybody has the same opportunity to find the next pig. You dont have to have all the previous locations to find the next one, only the clue.

Ron W Engineered most of this contest, I'm just tweeking and implementing. :)
Title: Re: CONTEST! D&L Double Cut helps us welcome spring PIGGY ROAST STYLE!
Post by: Furby on March 23, 2006, 05:18:37 PM
Tell me about being even. :o
I gotta wait for someone to find a pig before I get a clue as to where to look.
It's killing me! :D :D :D

Since Ron engineered it........ Thanks Ron! 8)

I must be blind or don't know what a pig looks like.  I've been looking in a lot of different spots and don't see a DanG thing that looks like a pig. I've looked for tiny pigs, little pigs and big pigs and nothing.....nada! :'(

How come ya didn't ask Tom to tell ya what a piggy looks like?

I see some of you have figured out the methods behind the clues.  #2 isn't that hard if you look at it and figure out what the clue is telling you.  It gives all the directions to the location of that pig.

Pigs are put in areas where even non-members can find them.

pigman, you must be using something that is changing the picture, like some sort of web accelerator. Your picture is now a gif animation with a flying pig in it.

Remebmer what [acronym] tags do to text?

I just wanted to say, when you find the pig black pig you will have NO DOUBT about it being the correct pig, Cause there is sumpthin about that photo that we did a little extra just so it would be unmistakable.  Chared pigs in pig roasters are not it. :D

I've searched and searched and searched and searched, then I searched some more. I've been to the out house, the beach, the mountains, in crooks and crainies and corners that haven't seen the light of day in years. I've passed gators, snakes, log dogs, and Santa a time or two, even found a pink pig car! Them pigs sure do know how to hide! One thing is for sure, I can definitely tell you where them pigs are not.  pc_smiley

Nope, the BIG black pig is still hiding here on the forum, all anyone has to do is follow the MANY clues Jeff has left and find it.
Anyone can still win the big prize of a two night stay at the B&B.
Even if someone don't want it, they can increase a friend's odds of winning.

I found that thing. 8)  I never did smell the piggy, but the Boss's hints got me close enough I heard it grunt. :o  I have heard enough hog grunts to know what  they sound like. ;)

I'll be doing the drawing sometime on Sunday after I get home from Chet's. Saturday evening I'll get all the entries gathered together that may have arrived while I have been gone.

Thanks to those who filled me in. I'd "beethere" but for some reason, didn't turn over enough drawings to get the big hit on the black pig. Well hidden, for me anyways.  :)  'Twas fun. Good luck in the drawing to ya'all.

Benethere,  I couldn't find that black pig untill I read this hint that Jeff left on the Forestry & Logging Board.
"Extra extra!  Forum extras!  I'll shut up now on that. This isnt the proper pig clue distribution point. "
As soon as I saw the words "Forum extras" my eyes were opened and I knew where to look and the rest was easy. 8)
On this sl o o o o o ow dialup I must have wasted hours looking at photos in the wrong places. ::)
