Title: Date night with the wife
Post by: breederman on March 25, 2006, 08:50:14 AM
Have one!  I highly recommend it.  When the kids were very young my wife and I scheduled weekly dates in order that she could get out of the house for awhile.  It helped keep her sane?  what with three babies and a half built house and all.  But as we all know, as we get older, late night becomes much earlier!
We like to go dancing, and we do every couple of months when we both have Sunday off so we can sleep in. Last night when Terry got home from her job designing kitchens at the big blue store she wanted to go out.Problem is that not much happens around here on Friday nights. So we look in the paper and see that a little place close to home has a country band.  The dance floor was about the same size as our living room and the band was playing under a head mount 8 point buck with a string of Christmas lites strung on his horns!
We have never been there before but the band was excellent and playing southern rock and country.Long story short ... we had a blast along with the small crowd that was there and we want to remind every one to take their spouse out for a good time once in a while.

We sorta got plans in that direction tonight.  Gotta go to Tallahassee anyway to get a look at the new Great Grandboy that was born at 5:30 this morning. :) 8)  While we're over there, we're gonna go out for a nice dinner, then drop by our favorite watering hole on the way home.  Should be quite a few old friends there to visit with. :)

We stopped giving each other Christmas gifts years ago and go away for a weekend alone later in the year.  We went down around Lancaster PA. last month.  It doesnt matter what we do, in fact usually we have no plans, just draw a circle on the map at the distance from home that we figure we can afford to drive and pick a town at random.
We like to explore old towns and cities, just walk around and stop at junk shops and used book stores and stuff.  I'm finally getting T so that she likes to drive the small roads and get off the interstates,  We have been lost for entire days!  I just tell her if we are headed towards home it will be ok! :)
Our favorite state to explore is Virginia. The last three years has been great as our oldest daughter is in college at Lynchburg so two or three times a year we have a good excuse to go down.  Problem is she informed us last week that she will graduate early so after next December that excuse is gone. :(
I like to go down to pick her up alone in may,I take an extra day on the way down and do a little hiking in the blue ridge,  a few hours alone just walking is good for the soul! I'll be going in just over a month, hope it don't rain.
