Title: determining market value of logs
Post by: brdmkr on April 04, 2006, 11:13:32 PM
Is there a web site that post current market value of logs by species?  Actually, that is not the real question as I know these sites exist.  What I haven't been able to find is market value for my area GA, FL, AL.  Can anyone offer any assistance?  I am particularly interested in what mills are giving for SYP saw logs.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Poke round here and see what ya find.

http://www.srs.fs.usda.gov/econ/data/prices/

Few states have good info...most have info not worth printing.

Thanks Larry.

I checked out that site, but there was nothing there for this part of the country.  I may have to call a few of the local mills and ask what  they are paying.

Maybe check with your State DNR or local Conservation District Forester for such info.
