Have you found yer diver yet?
Was ya able to get the stain out of his diving suit? :D
Are ya takin any bets on whether ya'all are gonna have a white Christmas down there in Flarda?

I was gonna try to be the first with the
MERRY CHRISTMAS, Y'ALL!!
But Fast Tom beat me to it, dad nab it! >:(
Hey Don,
You can even click Tom's for more Christmas Cheer.
DonT feel too bad, we all think you're half-fast :-X ;D
Noble
Actually, haven't seen my diver for the past 2 days. I been needin some welding done, and he does that too. Did the welding today. Had to do a LOT of grinding. Wearin glasses is a pain! I can lay a bead as good as anyone. Just have trouble following the seam!! Some places the bead is over an inch wide, by the time I get the whole seam covered !! ;D
The wetsuits are hanging in the garage. No smell to speak of.
Sure feels like snow outside. We are supposed to be in the WARMER part of Florida. Tom and DanG live in the cold part. ;) ;)
yeah, I know. It almost got down to 60 today. I'de go south if there was any south left. Florida's gotten to where the farther south you go, the farther north you get. ;D
I resemble that remark. I figure the ones that come down there and stay aint the true Northerners Tom. Come North and we will make you feel as at home as you did us when we came south.
Not bad folks, Jeff. Just a different society and they make a different world.
I wouldn't defend em. They's deserters! You can Keep um. I'm tellin ya that you would enjoy whats left up here if we could keep you from expiring from Hypothermia. Do Floridiand even have hypothermia in thier vocabulary? Or is that a Northern word.
Hypothermia.. hmmmm... I think we get that if we have to go outside in the winter in our underwear. Mostly, down here, we are either Hot or Not Hot.or inside. ;D
Hey Tom,
What do you guys in Florida do with your firewood?
You certainly don't need it to keep warm do you? ;D
All of my wife's pets flock around our wood stove
or Kerosun heater in the winter time. It makes for a lot
of melted cat and dog puddles. The cat in the picture
wondered up as a stray about 3-4 years ago. Had a huge
abcess on it's chest and half starved to death. As you can
see my wife nursed him back to good health.

Whitepe
We manage to go through quite a bit of firewood, Perry. A Physical therapist called me yesterday wanting more. He has burned up the truckload that he came and got last summer.
It's f-f--f---f---forty-one degrees out there right know and my wife has had a fire in the fireplace all afternoon and this evening. I am burning up some Black Willow and Red bud that I've had since summer before last. I've got a lot of oak boards that got bugs so I sawed them up for firewood too. A lot of my firewood goes to the cooking pit but when the weather is like it is now, my wife will burn a half-cord a week.
We've got that cat thing going on here too. My wife is being trained right now by a wild black Tom that wondered up here last summer. He has been living out in the barn. But, when the weather started turning nasty, she started feeding him on the front porch. He's found a home. :-/
Tom come on back up north where the white stuff is snow not pine :)
Thanks for the offer, Woodman but I don't think I could stand it. These bones are too used to the heat. I actually enjoy sweating and used to hate shoes. My system starts shutting down when the falling temperatures beging to reach the 50's. :D
Tom,
My first business trip to Florida was about 20 years
ago and spent the week in Ft. Lauderdale. It was January.
When I left Chicago it was -25 F and 40-50 MPH winds.
I was supposed to get to F.L. at 8:00 PM but was delayed
by mechanical probs on the plane. Eventually arrived
at 4:00 AM the next morning and it was 32 F. I think
the high for the week was about 42F. Wednesday
of that week was when that plane crashed into the
Potomac in D.C. Coldest week I ever spent in FLA.
The mechanical problems were that the landing
gear wouldn't retract cause it had iced up
so we had to return to O'Hare after about 30 minutes
and prepare for a crash landing cause the pilot thought
that the wheels on the landing gear might not turn on
touchdown. It was kinda scary :o
Holy cow. :o I guess it was scarey. Harold just thinks looking a gator in the eye is scarey. Compared to that, it's down the page a bit. Airplanes don't scare me at all. When I was a kid, I used to fly with a Crop Duster and it was great fun. It's the contact with the ground that always bother me a little bit, although I looked forward to it too after being in a plane with a crop duster. He always told me that a landing was just a controlled crash anyway. :-/
I remember that weekend. It was awful cold here. that was a period of years when we experienced harsh winters here and even had some snow. I pulled the boys behind the pickup truck on the hard top. The whole neighborhood had hold of the rope. :D
I remember watching that crash on Television and how bad it made me feel for the poor victims and their families.
Hey deadheader, I found the buy and sell section ;D but I still can't figure out how to start a thread. :( Maybe someone in the spirit of Christmas would help a newbie navigate these obscure waters. The help section says go to the index--- my eyesight could be failing, :'( but I can't seem to see where to go from there :'( :'(
OK Dan,
Since you asked so nicely. Go to the page that has all the topics listed and look at the top of the page. It says Start new topic on the right.
Nice to see ya on here.... 8)
Dan-l-b,
If you go to the "Commerce" folder then the "For Sale" (or "Wanted" or wherever) The top bar on the left side reads "Pages 12.." then look across the bar to the right side you come to an icon of a page and an arrow that with "Mark Topics as Read" then another icon of a folder with plus emblem followed by "Start new topic". You're there! You may have to scroll over.
Click on this bad dude and it'll take you to the same kind of screen that you make any other post except you'll be the first. What ever you put in the title will be the in the list of topics.
Dan,
Go to the section where you want to start a thread such as General board, or chainsaws. At the top of the menu-----across from the page numbers-----just to the right of 'mark all topics as read' it says 'start a new topic'.
Click on 'start a new topic' and your on your way.
Noble
Noble,
I could have told him that!!! ;D
Haytrader, I guess you win the typing contest. :-/
About the time I quit teaching, they were pushing the concept of 'team teaching'. I never really understood how it was supposed to work and I'm not sure it ever materalized. Maybe that is what we were doing, Bibb. I do know that when giving a presentation it is a reccomended practice to a) tell em what your gonna tell em. b) Tell em c) Tell em what you told em. I think that's what we did.
Are we good or what?
Noble
I guess we'll have to check the want ads to see if Dan got it ;)
(You know how bad the school system is these days.) ::)
You guys are all great. Really took the time to help someone find his way around the posting how-to's. NOT like that grouchy ole Jeff,"If you missed it, I ain't splainin it agin",stuff. :P :P :P Hi Jeff. How's things ??? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
OOps!!
There went yer next hat, Deadheader. If I told ya once, I told ya twice, don't offend the administrator.
>:(
Aw, Jeff doesn't hold a grudge - just ask Noble! ;D ;D ;D ;D
Wish you and Whitepe would quit trying to cause me trouble >:(. Jeff likes me :)-----he's even gonna sell me a permit to visit Michigan if I ever get off of his probation list.
Noble
Noble,
I sure wouldn't want to cause you any trouble ???
I just read your bio. I gotta respect a man who shares my goal of leaving a forest better than he found it. :)
Jeff, Noble probably deserves a discount on that permit ;D
Noble, we ain't as uppity here in southern Indiana and you are welcome to visit anytime-no permit required :)
OWW,
Thanks for the invite. My brother used to live in Princtown and one of my family's favorite places is Spring Mill State park so I've already been there a few times. I wanna go back though.
Noble
Noble,
I don't cause you any trouble. Remember I have never
really told that we carved Jeff's name and address on
that big redwood log. My lips are sealed. :-X
PEW
I want to see proof of that. :)
Oh What have you done Perry! :o Way to go slick!
Now I'll probably get my FF cap repossessed :-[.
Noble
Nope, I'd be honored to have my name on that log and to know that you guys did it. The best of both worlds. I'm on the log and can't get busted for it.
I think ya'll are leg pullers anyhow.
Jeff,
Have I ever told a lie? Dang, lightning just hit the
ground outside my window. Sorry Noble, I knew
it would slip out sometime.
Proof I say Proof.
I don't think thats a real chainsaw. I thought I saw a crackerjacks box in another picture... ;D
Looks like a Stihl 009 to me
Jeff,
Noble_Ma is right. That's the 009 that turned rabid on me.
It only cost me 10,000 S&H green stamps. ::)
Besides that 009 with a 14 inch bar is all I need
since the LT15 can only cut 28 inch logs. :)
When I was a kid in high school I used to carry a
Homelite iron in my golf bag. It proved real handy
for cutting down trees to give me a clear shot at the
green. Of course if I didn't have a slice that would
cross two counties I wouldn't need it. ;D
By the way, did you notice how red the wood in that
redwood log still is after all those years? Noble and I
swept up the chips so we wouldn't leave a mess. ;)
Whitepe
The only thing I noticed was the toy chainsaw and the great looking hat on Nobles dome. ;D
Hey Guys, Thanks for your help with navigation. Noble, it was ;) the team approach that really made it effective. Just picked up the new mill Tuesday, got away right before the storms. I had a chance yesterday after the thunderstorms to set it up and fill a small order. Soooo exciting. ;D ;D Merry Christmas All.
Well Fill us in Dannl. What did you get. Whered you get it from. Details man, give us the details ???
dan-l-b,
Now you need to be extra good so Santa will bring you a digital camera so you can take pictures and post here. 8)
Hey weekend sawyer, it's a WM LT40HD with debarker, lubemizer, and accuset. Although portable I have it sitting in a shed I built for my Norwood. Got alot of kinks to work out, but it is a start. Bibbyman, I'm fortunate to own a digital, but getting them posted....some of you have the knack, unfortunately computers isn't mine :-[ There is always hope, ;D and some team teaching going on in this forum :) :)
Start with the Knowledge Base, Dan-l-b. :)
Tom, you mean that Knowlege Basedeally bob button in the center of the bar across the very top of the page? :P
Garr-Lee!, I find somethin' new every day. ::)
Jeff,
Here's what I got you for Christmas. ;D
I hope it makes it by Dec. 25th.
Notice that the little guy has all of the safety gear.
Whitepe
Can We Saw It?
Yes We Can!
Guess it doesn't mean much unless you, or your kids, watch bob the builder. 8)
cool! I'll have to post a picture of my other logger guy toy. He logs with a motorcycle believe it or not!
Kevin I know what your saying. I have a 2 and 4 year old livin in this house. Gots them toys all over the house. ;D
Dan Its not hard to post pics after you try a few. If you need help read the knowledge base first, then ask the real experts Bibbbyman and Tom . The both helped me out a bunch.
