I done done it, I split two 36" yellow poplar with gun powder. Just let me say it's verrrrry impressive, I went over kill on the powder to be sure to get the job done. Yes their will be some more waste but the sound rolling through the hills of southern indiana makes up for most of it. Today all I saw in the woods was big trees that I would have to blow before i can mill, just dident see the smaller trees anymore. It's fun but if you try be safe, I was in a large clearing and used way to much fuse but am able to tell the tale. John
BATF should be rolling in there any minute now. ;D
Ya See, I'm of the notion that you can never use too much fuse... ;D
I thought I felt the ground shake down here!!
So that was that noise! I thought the local militia were at it again :D :D
Ya , every time their is a loud boom in the area some of the locals get excited and grab their guns thinking that they are going to get to do it again if you know what I mean. This area has enuf to fight both sides.
Hey their ONEWITHWOOD looks like you are pretty close, if you have ever come through the low gap pass from unionville heading to Mahalasville or Martinsville you have past my place. John
Okeh, now as an old experimenter with gunpowder, I gots to ask, watchoo doon down deh?
Cuz I'm picturing 36" logs and you drill in and fill holes wif gunpowder- so is that it or wuz they on the hoof so to speak, and you blew em down from the standing position? I GOTS to know more. lw
I been trying to trade the appropriate tool for this on the for sale board and No TAKERS!
John,
I am on the other side of the Morgan-Monroe State Forest from you , I think. Years ago I used to go through the forest on my way to Martinsville. I don't remember the road names but I would pass by the fire tower and ranger station exiting the forest on a gravel road heading north, maybe Jordan rd. Somehow I ended up coming into Maritnsville by what is now the Shell station on 37.
Are you referring to Low Gap Road on the north shore of Lake Lemon? I don.t remember traversing that road exactly but I may have. At any rate if that is the road I have a new reason to check it out.
Jeff,
The problem is you are trying to trade for the wrong stuff. I don't have any of what you are asking for and don't know where I could lift any of it either. ;D
Now iffen you were to ask for some old computer gear or even some amounts of cash that might be a different story. The only problem is I would want to reduce it's value by using it, 8) even if Perry was afraid. Shoot (oops did I say that), I might have to use it on some of my difficult firewood as my hydraulic splitter has been broke all winter just to see what it did. Livin' in a subdivision like I do, I wonder what the neighbors would think? :o :o
Luckily the cop lives next door. I would have to make sure and include him in the festivities to keep myself out of the slammer. ;D ;D
