Title: Before there was the peavey, there was the ring dog!

How would you all like to use one of these everyday at the mill?

Now dat's neat!  I can see how it would work well in the hands of an expert.  Like most primitive tools, though, it would take some getting used to.  I might just make me one of those, just to see if I could make it work. ;D

Hey, that's a good idea to have hanging on da gun rack for those special occasions when I wish I had the cant hook.

I can see one problem I would have with that tool right off, I'd be putting that ring back on the handle every two seconds.  ::)   I wonder how long it took before some one put something on the bottom so the ring couldn't come off.

That is a real neat tool however.

I was thinking about forging a cap on the end of the handle, either with a point or teeth like a cant hook. I could make the ring a little smaller so it couldn't slide over the cap.
