I guess I'm a light weight on the 1000 bf a day deal ???. I suppose if everything was set up and things worked good all day 1000 bf a day is a fair amount of work for one person. But for me, I seem to be admiring my stack of wood too much. For you old timers that do this consistently I'm impressed.
Firebass
500bf of what?
My son and I cut 400bf of red oak last Sunday. It hadn't dawned on me untill then that in a few years he won't have time for old dad. he thinks I have him help because I'm looking for cheap labor. Well as true as that is when we are sawing it is the one time he seems to relax just a bit and talk to me like a friend and not dad. I guess I better find some more red oak to cut. :)
Firebass, let me get this straight. You sawed 500bf on your prototype, homebuilt, manual sawmill, which you built from scratch, AND did all the prep and cleanup in one day? I'm impressed! Yep, impressed is what I am! 8) 8)
It sure as heck beats watching the days go by sittin on your butt watchin television eh? Good work!

Yes Sir it does.

Yea my plans were to paint it White but I can't stop cutting long enough to wash it down for paint. Besides I kinda like the raw metal look ;D This Sawing stuff is addicting
Did you train that dog of yours to pull green chain for you? ;)
He is a bit nervos about all those chips fly'n around. But he has learned that the sawdust pile is a great place to hide stuff. He'll bury his frisbee just long enough to think its really gone then UP it comes just to do it again. ;D He's another reason I have to take lots of breaks cutting. Any of you that have ever owned a blue heeler know what I'm talking about.
"Nothing says loyalty like a sawdust covered dog."
I'm not sure where I read that, even though it has been pretty recent.
