Title: New Bed Headboard
Post by: sawwood on July 22, 2007, 04:21:28 PM
Finally Finished the new headboard for our Bed. The wood is white oak burl and red oak. The wood was cut from a log that i didn't think would be any thing but after we
cut it was sprized to see all these burl eyes. After air drying two years i planed some
down to make pannels and the legs where lock miter cut to make the two legs. It took 4 months to make and now that its warmed up enought i finished putting the
stain yesterday. I am useing Min-Wax honey oak gell for the stain and after it dries
i will spray on some polly.

I like it. Simple, clean, and straitforward. I'm not mush on the really busy stuff with a lot of fancy molding and what have you.

Thanks all. As for a foot board there isn't one in the works, Wife doesn't want one, said its makes making the bed to hard. Sure glad to as i don't have any more of that
wood left. Now i am working on the grandbaby toy box.

Looks real nice sawwood.  :) I made a bed a few years ago from black cherry and maple from the farm. Most comfortable bed I ever slept in. Of course it could be the mattress.  ;D

I would be real interested in seeing the toy box when you get it started. If it is nearly as nice as the headboard, which it will be, then it will be a real treasure.  :)

WOW! What a glorious headboard!

I've always wanted a headboard, never got there yet...

Last time I bought a bed, I decided to spend the money on a great mattress, and there was nothing left over for the headboard.

I'll make myself one when we get to the farm!!! :D
