When did WM start using the same gearbox for everything?
According to the revision history. It looks like WM started changing things 6/96. There was also a Diamond chain up grade around this time. Any mill or customer wanting to install a debarker assembly should check the up down chain to see if it is a Diamond manufactured chain.
Revision J 2.01 is also when there was a change. If you have a question about you specific model Wood-Mizer mill manufactured before this revision please give us a call. There are many veriables to when and which mill was manufactured with what gear box. Looks like if you have a mill with the revision J 2.01 + you are good to go.

My mill is a 2000 model and has the smaller gearbox with the one-piece output shaft so the change to the larger two-piece shaft must have taken place after that.

my mill is an '04 and it's a rev J8.01
My mill is a 1994 and has the grey gearbox like jackpines. I was hoping that because the gearbox was not orange that it has been replaced. Am I correct in that assumption. Thanks for all the great info Sparks. Joe
