Title: Stihl 026 only running on full throtle
Post by: MikeH on March 06, 2008, 11:24:46 PM
Was very easy to start before, now its very hard to start and I can only keep it running at full throtle. I am not thinking this is very good. Any idea's?

It sounds like the idle circuit in the carb is plugged. A thorough cleaning is in order.

Remove the muffler and check the piston through the exhaust port.A partially seized piston could be the cause.Running it in this condition could damage the cylinder.
You should also check the impulse hose and the cylinder screws.Loose cylinder screws or broken impulse hose could also show the same symptoms.

Thank You, I found the main tube from carb to motor was set wrong from when I was doing exploratory surgury trying to replace chain oiler. That made me happy. 8)
