I had my garage roof shovelled today at the house in Chelsea , I could not make it this weekend and it was the best time to get er done . My daughter her boyfriend and a friend of his got the job done , there was an amazing amount of snow on the roof , my daughter is 5'4" tall and she had snow up to her eyes on the roof .
There have been many roofs this year that have gave in to the snow load , some have not gave way but are definatly showing signs of the load apon them , such as doors not opening well , slight incline in the roof line . The school  board in Montréal has closed all schools till tuesday and is having all the school roofs inpected and or shovelled. There has been one factory north of Montréal that has had its roof cave in , three workers lost the lives.
  Here I have seen the lower part of the tin of the barn for the first time in a month. That would of put the snow to a height of ten feet Maybe by tomorow I will see the top of the windows .  8)

The side of the shop along the drip line has been submerged since first of February. The roof it about 8 feet from the ground on that side. The south end where the new door is, I keep cleaned out and a path down from the house. In front of the barn it's about 7 feet deep and that's with a blower shoving it out over. The snow is level with the picture window on the north side of the house. One window on that side over in the garage has snow piling up the side of it by the close line stoop. Can't see anything at the mouth of the driveway, up or down until the nose of the car is 4 feet out from the road shoulder. :D

I made myself a home made roof rake and have used it twice this winter. The main part of the house never has any build up, too steep. Where I have raked it off it is up to the ledge of the window and the bank is ice hard. The bottom of it is about 7 feet above ground. ::)

Been alot of problems here too.I saw a run in for cows down the other day.A couple schools were closed down until the engineer could come and see if it was OK for the kids to go to school.Part of a big Walmart warehouse roof caved in.Only been built for 5 years.I have not heard of any houses,so far,having trouble.I saw a 4X8 plywood sign for roof shoveling.Have heard of a  few gargaes with cars inside that fell down.Been a busy year for the snow team this year.

We had one that kind of blind sided me this Winter.  A couple feet of snow, probably a little rain once in awhile and the house settled just enough to crack the tile in the laundry room.  Just a real fine line, looks to be about where a seam for the backer board would be.   Code is for 100 lb snow and the house is well enough insulated that not much of it melts.
