Title: Remove Handle Plugs on Stihl?
Post by: woodfirst on April 06, 2008, 07:19:13 PM
Can anyone tell me how to effectively remove the plugs that cover the handle mounting screws on a Stihl MS170?  They loook to be identical to the handlebar plugs used on my 039 and 361 as well.

Thanks in advance

I put a screwdriver under the lip of the plug and pry up just enough to get a pair of needlenose pliers under the same lip. Then I just pry the plug put with the pliers.

cheers eh?

Thanks John,

I got the plugs out but still do not see anyway to remove the handle.  There are no bolt or screw heads behind them like on my 039.

Any ideas?

As I recall the bushings just press in and out of the handle once the plugs are removed. The plugs are what hold it together.

cheers eh?
