A post to put his fancy cut out saw blade on . 8)
I think he's makin a mess :o :P
I'll go with Saw Mounting too.
10. Making an adult lincoln log set.
9. Building a log dog house....for himself....not the dog.
8. Playing with his new antique draw knife just purchased over E-Bay for a buck two ninety eight because he searched on Drawerknife and no one else did. He was the only bidder.
7. Working part time for the telephone pole company.
6. Building a raft to sneak across Lake Michigan at night for a one man attack on the Canadians.
5. Building a pole so he can beat the Guiness World Record for Pole Sitters.
4. Debarking Elm Trees before burning them.
3. Practicing for the annual race of the International Debarker Society.
2. Showing his dog what might happen if he doesn't quit yapping. He might get debarked..... ::)
And the number 1 reason is:!! Some weird fettish about undressing a dead tree in public.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Nope simpler. Extra yard seating for Stacy's graduation open house. ;D

I like tight notches. ;D I leardned to do them pretty well while working on my picnic table a couple 3 years ago.

Charlie. Nice list. Just one thing... How do you sneak across lake Michigan to attack Canadians?
No two things. I did buy the draw knife cheep. 8 dollars at a flea market. ;D
Jeff B,
That's a great looking bench you made! You might of made it too good though. If the right, or wrong, person sees it, you'll have to make another. And another. And then you'll be making log cabin kits. And then you'll be so busy you'll wonder how you ever found time to go to work!
Frickman
I'm making another tomorrow. :D Actually, because two 8 foot logs will make two benchs. If I sawed them into lumber they would probably make 6. :D
Pretty easy to make, I scribed it with a home made scribe (two wooden rulers screwed togehter to form a compass, with a short pencil taped to one. :D) then traced it with the chainsaw, then just made releave cuts to the scribe line with the saw. Pretty quick. I actually had fun making this one. The slab top fit perfect the first time I turned it over.
Tommorrow I will probably have nothing but trouble. :D
Jeff,
Did you notch the top or the legs? Your notches are so good I can't tell.
Mark
Here is a set of benches to go around a fire pit being built but the Durango Log Company. Said it took a couple of guys a day to build a set. Cost about $1,800.00

Nice job, Jeff. Those benches will come in handy more than once.
Are you going to treat them with something or let them go natural.
I have a nice cedar half that I want to do the same thing with but hate to see the elements get to it.
Last time I was at Cabela's they had a lot of log benches like Jeff's. I took a picture of this one just because it was a little different. Would be sorta interesting to know what they paid for those benchs. (https://forestryforum.com/images/04_01_03/b8.jpg)
I notched the seat. If you notch the supports you would have a place for water to collect. I will let them go natural till they dry out some, prolly a year, then I'll spray them with the same deck stain I use on my deck. A light cedar color.
I knew it . The partial saw blade was a trick . I never was good at trick questions. ::)
;D
well, I got bored so I started another project. A shelving unit from hickory sapplings I cut last fall and some cedar from the cedar eater log. Here is what I have so fer. :)
