Was wondering what propane prices are looking like in the different areas?
I just paid $2.88 a gallon. That was the "Summer Discounted Price" ::) ::) ::)
Dependent on your climate I think propane has priced it's self out of the market...for one reason only...greed. >:( Our last house had a high efficiency heat pump with propane backup. Propane hot water heater also. House were building now is gonna be all electric with wood backup.
Funny you should ask, we got our contract in today and it's $2.07 a gallon prepaid.
I have to agree with Larry though. It's quickly pricing itself out of the market. We plan on using as much wood heat this winter as possible.
Just got my contract offer. 2.14 prepay, or 2.19 if you put 50 cents a gallon down.
I just paid over $4 gal at the fuel depot to get 3 small tanks filled for the grill. Lowes is getting $22 for a 5 gal tank exchange.
I have noticed in my area numerous people putting new high effeciency wood stoves in that heat with propane, I think propane is definitly pricing itself out of business. I used to heat with propane, after installing a high effeciency wood stove three years ago, I hardly use any propane at all, sure is nice to have the money in my pocket instead of someone elses.
I was also notified that there would be no locked in price this year >:( >:( >:(
If you think propane has priced itself out of the market try fuel oil.
Stonebroke
I paid $12.42 after tax to have an empty 20lb bottle filled at Costco a month ago so at a 4.6 gallon volume, it was $2.70/gallon. It keeps falling on the commodities market, now at $0.68/gallon, down 33% from this time last year but there's still a bunch of middlemen that need their pound of flesh before it's hooked up to the BBQ.
$1.75 Gal delivered to a big tank. I asked if they could fill 20-30 lb bottles while they were here and they said it's not legal, probably a tax difference if it's for home heating.
$3.75 here.
Eastern U.P. Will be delivered by Dec 15th. 110 gal is $252.92
$28.00 Canadian for a 20 pound BBQ tank filled yesterday. Not sure what that would compare to for price per gallon.

CDN$1.13/litre (US$3.12/US gallon)
Wow! I usually feel like we find the highest priced suppliers for stuff but it sounds like we are in the average priced area right now. I think our last fill up was around 3 bucks a gallon, which I felt was much too expensive. I don't know the exact cost, my wife covers the propane bill. I know it's pricey to fill a 500 gallon tank.
Buck 89. 771.3 gallons last week
I got my tank filled on Tues, $1.75 gal, and that was about 150 gallons into a 500 gallon tank. On the same day a farmer friend got propane from same truck/company for $1.68 gallon because he has a 1,000 gallon tank. We are both on automatic delivery and they charge by what size tank you have.
Just payed $2 a gal
Don't remember the bill exactly, from about a week ago, but it was like $880 for 285 gallons, or thereabouts. 3ish bucks a gallon. Too much!
$2.39 here
1.95 on a load earlier in the week.
CDN$0.685/L today

Actually this is a dumb question because the price depends so much on the volume you are buying and if you own the tank or it is a company tank. For instance my 100 gallon company tank on automatic delivery was $3.75 a gallon last month.
$3.39 thanks to gov Nuisance.
Got my first automatic fill of the season today, $1.40 gallon, that's a little better than last season.
Got filled again a few days ago, 122 gallons at $1.55 gallon. Higher than last month but still better than last year.
I prepayed @ $1.52 made it til mid January on the first tank.
filled a 20 lb bottle for $19 tuesday.
40# for 35$
$1.66 last week here on the frozen tundra.
I wonder why on big tanks propane is listed and sold by the gallon while on the small tanks they go by the pound.
It is hard to weigh a 500-gallon tank. my empty weighs 30 pounds, and when full about 70 so 40 #s of propane. there is a conversion, and of course it depends on pressure and temp as to how much is liquid and gas. It is prob. portable vs stand in place.
CDN$4.58/US gallon (US$3.15) up here in the land of climate hysteria. Those little 1 lb bottles for lamps and camp stoves are CDN$10.00 a pop. 5 years ago they was $3. :D
Southeast Texas, $2.45 per gallon as of yesterday
In camping, we used to refill the 1# bottles. often, they would leak after if not stored well after the original use so not much savings.
$2.07 gallon in the eastern U.P.
$1.74 ,leased tank .
$1.38 last month. Own my own tank. Member of an energy co-op
I just filled 3 forklift tanks. Price is back to precovid at $32 a tank.
I am on a contract for my house propane at .69 a litre. Al in the Canadian $
CDN $1.25/litre for propane here. It's never been a cheap option here for at least 20 years.
Wood chosen for the kitchen stove for baking was beech and sugar maple for a 450°F oven.
$3.82 a gallon retail last week filling my 100 pounders.
23.5 gallons ea
$1.69 here in NW ohio
Yesterday it was $1.85 gal in my 500 gal tank, if I took a small tank in it would be about $3.00.
The prices are regulated here so volume don't matter, same price. However, I suspect those Coleman 1 lb stove tanks are not on regulation. They've tripled.
This mornings delivery was $1.35 per gallon so cheaper than last 2 times. I'm guessing I wont need anymore until fall unless a power outage runs the genny a lot, hope not.
The bill was just on the counter and I think it was in the $2.39 per gallon range? Seems expensive, comparatively.
$1.99 a gallon delivered to bring a 500 gallon tank back to 80%.
