Title: How much does Cherry wood weigh?
Post by: CHARLIE on June 12, 2003, 06:39:03 PM
Can someone tell me how much 3000 board feet of air dried cherry would weigh?  I sure would appreciate it. :P

16 ounces per pound. ;D

I would guess between 9,000 and 12,000 lbs

Thanks Jeff.  I assume that air dried means the moisture is about 12 to14 percent.  Friend of mine wanted to know because he's got to find a trailer to haul it.

Charlie,

If you figure 31 lbs./cu.ft. (per Hoadley) at 12% MC, Timber! says 7,750lbs.

According to my NHLA Rule book...Cherry when kiln dried to 8% is 2881 lb/MBF.
