Post by: cheyenne on December 25, 2008, 05:53:46 PM
Fed the critters about 3:30 yesterday and not 15 minutes later there were 17 deer about 30 turkeys, 2 racoons a red fox. chipmunks, black squirls And various birds all eating together. What a Christmas Eve card not twenty feet from the deck......Cheyenne

Thats about the time my batteries would find proper to die , the rechargebles would not quite be plugged into the wall correctly and the stach of coppertops would be one short of what I would be needing .  :-\ ::)

We have the same motley crew of freeloaders round here, with the addition of armadillos.  One of the coons is a real pig...he was sitting on top of the bird feeder at 3am this morning scooping out seeds with his little paws.

Your lucky that the local ADK'ers didn't show up. Free food? Heat?  Any frozen Adirondack critter would/ should show up.  ;D For those of you who don't know the work "Adirondack" means "bark eater", and I can tell you up there, this time of year it is ALL about survival. I have winter camped up there at -20 F air temp, and snow 24" in 24 hours. So cold as I exhaled out of my mummy bag that the condensation crystallized and fell back in my face as ice crystals. Many winter/ summer adventures in such a great/ cool place.
