Post by: Jeff on February 20, 2009, 06:46:27 PM
Its my turn.  :)

Here is a wood burning I did on a sugar maple cutting board.  :) Its a bit different then my typical subject matter.  :)

Wow, they're GREAT!

I LOVE the second one, Logically I should bid on the first one, as the second one has 'natural edge' which will be MUCH more difficult/expensive to get through customs, but hey, logic doesn't usually help me much in my purchases...   :-[

Well, it's mine for the minute :)

Not for long though, I got seriously outbid :(

Good luck guys, it's fantastic!!!

Jeff, the Mrs asked me if that cutting board is "usable art" or should it just hang on the wall.  What do you think?  Would it hold up to a bit of use?

*edit*  Would it be possible to cut only on the back of it, preserving the burning?

I love both of them.  I don't think I could get a knife anywhere near the cutting board! :)

That is my feeling, as well, DL.  I showed it to the Mrs to 'test the waters' so to speak.  Her comments were, "Ohhhhh, that's beautiful!  Can you use it?  I really like usable art."

Sure, the cutting board has two sides. The other side is certainly usable. Both sides are technically, but I don't know how it would hold up to long term knife use.  :)

I should add, that the cutting board is finished in simply mineral oil. It's washable and food safe. If it ever starts to dry out some or the maple loses some color, simply wipe on some more mineral oil.

Anybody know who the high bidder "l***s" is?  Is it a forum member?

Ebay makes up those bidder names to keep the real ebay names hidden.  No way of knowing who it is without them coming out here.

Do we really care?
It will go to the high bidder, and the FF receives the money.

If it is an outsider, bid them up and promote a great contribution to the FF.

If a FF member, then a win-win.  ;D ;D

I was just a little leery because the current high bidder looks like a new account with 0 feedback.  Forgive my paranoia.  *climbs back under rock*  :)

That bidder is a forum member that wanted to get involved in the auctions but never had an ebay account before.  :)

Thanks Dave!

No fear Warbird, I've got two more to list tomorrow, then I'm taking a break. I've got pieces to make for upcoming gifts for family stuff. I did some Turkey's tonight for one of those. :)
