I now have a different computer that is running XP. This thing is absolutely nuts with a whole bunch of random errors that really have me and the tech service from the place I bought it from scratching our heads. Two times it has refused to print anything and then corrected itself. Messed up the settings on my outgoing e-mail account and goes to sleep sometimes and will not wake up for anything. Have to pull the plug to get it reset and then get all those stupid messages that I did not shut it down properly. ::)
But that's not my immediate problem. The problem is that when I am typing in the message box on the forum, as I fill the window up with message, this DanG thing keeps scrolling back up to the top so I cannot see where or what I am typing. I can scroll down to the bottom but as soon as I type more, it goes back up to the top and hides the latest typing again.
I see the arrows on the right side of the box are bold on the up arrow, but if that is the problem, how do you change it? Is there some XP setting that will stop from hiding my typing? Help
I had a problem like that once with my GPS hooked to a com port on my laptop
Turned out that if the GPS was on and transmitting before I booted the system XP thought it had found a mouse and was moving the pointer all over the place.
You might try unplugging COM or USB ports and see if it stops. Also disable your IR port if you have one.
Think of the fun you could have if fake signals swapped screens and put the pointer over a delete buttom. :D :D
Could be a faulty mouse. And an optical mouse will sometimes jump to the 0,0 position in the upper left of the screen, mine does that sometimes. I think it must be something to do with it's calibration after loosing track of where it is.
Gary C, the same thing is happening to me today and it makes it DanG hard to type a reply.

Unplug the mouse while in one of those windows posting. If the problem goes away, you have mouse setting/driver/hardware problems. If it does not, take the advice johnjbc posted and unplug printers and all other peripherals and see if the problem still exists.

I've been experiencing the same problem on occasion (and not just on the FF). I have two mice plugged in, and have just removed one. Hope that solves the occasional problem. It is real frustrating but figured it was due to some recent upgrades I was pestered to download.
Thanks for the suggestion. If it happenes again, I will unplug the wireless mouse. :) Go mouseless for kicks. ;D
I really dislike wireless mice. I inevitably end up with interference such that the little receiver has to be placed exactly so far away from where I am using the mouse or it will not work.
My wireless mouse has worked well. No such message that the receiver is out of touch, but then it is just a few feet away.
But I did just get a repeat of the scrolling problem, and tried unplugging the wireless mouse from the USB port. It didn't solve the problem.
