Title: A short introduction
Post by: Magicman on August 04, 2009, 10:24:25 PM
This my first post and a short introduction.  I've been an owner/sawyer since January, 2002.  I certainly am not an expert at anything, but I do have a little experience.  I own a '98 WM SH which now has over 5K hours on the second engine.  I only "travel" with the mill and generally cut only 2-3 days a week.

I've been "lurking" on here for many years, so thanks to you for the tips that I've learned from you... :D

I'll work on my DanG profile as I get the "hang" of this forum.  (They all seem to be a little different.)

Looking forward to hearing more about what you do with your  mill.

Oh yeah, I was supposed to mention that we like pictures and it ain't really that hard to do on here...

Welcome to the Forum!

Did you put all them hours on the mill?  That's a lot of couple days a week sawing!

I knew I would be "bumped" about pictures.   ;D   Picture posting is different on different forums.  I'll figure this one out and post some.  Thanks for the welcome.....

Yup, they are mine.  I guess I should have said that I try not to work but 2-3 days a week.  I usually don't work Saturdays, but to meet customer's needs (like this) one, I'm going to have to do it.  Some of my jobs, like yesterday, are only 1/2 day.  I'm now off for 2 days until Friday.  I do not turn down any jobs.  If it is 300 BF, I cut it.  After they see the product, next time, it will be larger.  75% of my customers are repeat.  My largest single cut was 32,716 BF.

I've not had a "slowdown" of work during this "downturn"..... good   ;D  and bad   :(

And, thanks for the welcome, Bibbyman.....and Mary.

I also passed through Collins after attending the Mississippi Forestry Ass'n meeting in Hattiesburg last week.  Small world.
