Yahoo!  Lynda's dog Sophie and I will be watching!  This is her perch when they are out and I am on the computer or watching T.V.  She's loves her uncle Jeff. She loves T.V. too!

The oilman needs to go .
If it is true ,he's a millionaire ,he shoudn't be there to begin with!
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: Raider Bill on September 18, 2009, 09:07:57 AM
I wondered if he was really a millionare or just a slick used car salesman. I'm leaning towards slick tongue jerk myself.

Pouring out all the water and burning peoples socks hmmmm That takes a set.............. >:(

I wonder if someone didn't plant these ideas with him.  I like Shambo.  I was amazed that it was so obvious that Marissa would go first.
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: Roxie on September 18, 2009, 09:59:35 AM
This looks like a really good crowd this year!  Both teams have some amazing talent, but did anyone else want to reach out and slap the rocket scientist during the building of the shelter?  What a nudge!   :D
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: Raider Bill on September 18, 2009, 10:23:19 AM
IMHO Shambo's going to have some issues with her team. She knew they needed shelter, water etc but they went swimming instead she knew that was wrong. I hope her USMC training doesn't rub noses the wrong way.

Oilman sleaze ball's BS story about being a fireman, losing his house/dog in Katrina etc hopefully comes out soon.

The Oilman found the idol ,got to hate him ,but he is smart!!
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: Raider Bill on September 25, 2009, 09:15:17 AM
When oilman first said he was going to find the idol without any clues I rolled my eyes ::) But then there he goes and finds it. :o

So far he's got 2 people bounced that IMO didn't deserve it other than figureing out he's a snake and going going against him. Quite the salesman, snake charmer. ???

That was quite the challenge ;D

Like Jeff, I haven't really taken a shine to anyone.............. well maybe miss Yellow a tad :D There are a bunch I don't like.

It seems every season they lose a major part of the fishing gear weather it was the sling, net, mask and now mouthpeice of the snorkle.

There are very few "survivors" on the show.  Mostly self appointed entertainers and followers.  I like to watch just to see who will out-stupid the others.

Aaaaaaaaawwwwwwww!  I really like the lady cop!  My favorite is the guy with the dreadlocks that is the "leader" of the Galu tribe.  He seems level headed and he is from a neighborhood that's about 30 miles from here, so I gotta cheer for my "hometeam".   :)

I can see why the purple team picked that gal to visit the yellow team...she was really irritating!
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: Raider Bill on September 25, 2009, 05:41:13 PM

It was a fore gone conclusion as nobody else brought their gear to trial council yet she acted a bit surprised.

If you missed it,

They had a challange that pretty much turned into a brawl with Ben being ejected from the challange and the older cook guy [I can't remember his name] being taken away in a ambulance for heart issues after competeing.

Jasmine (the so-called ghetto trash) really made a loud splash.  Very mouthy.  If she alienated the other tribe that fast, I bet her own tribe will send her packing as soon as they have to vote somebody off.  Talk about a stupid strategy.

I hope the oilmans next. He's a snake. I still haven't picked who I want to win but the tall black guy maybe the man. I liked how he stood his ground at tribal council.
Glad Ashley didn't get booted.

IMO they need to put some kind of lens cover on the cameras to prevent the water spots during challenges ;D

It was smart of Shambo to get along so well with the other tribe considering she was calling her Yoga and Exercising team mates "The 90210 Club" and the "Club Med Society".   :D

Title: Re: Survivor Series

just my 2 cents. I would spend alot more time working on  the roof of the shelter. Seams they could all spend a hour gathering anough branches to make it a little more water resistant. Cause once it starts raining its to late. Although they could meditate thru the discomfort.

Aaron,

There is a lesson somewhere in there  :).

You would think that they would work on that shelter a little bit more.  Also, they must be getting more to eat than some groups in the past.  So far, there has been little focus on food this time around.  Sometimes they get rice, not sure if they did this time.

My step-daughter and I are BIG fans. She lives in Texas, I in Michigan. Because of her schedule, we both record it and watch it at a time convenient to her. (After the kids and hubby are asleep). We were both glad the 'mouth' got voted out. Not only because he was obnoxious, but also to confound Russel! Russel's too full of himself to recognize he's not in command as much as he thinks. Not only did the tribe vote against his wishes, but he went along with theirs! Russell is actually worse than Johnny-FairPlay! It may be just a 'game', but there's still a modicum of integrity required when interacting with fellow humans. Russell is just not a nice guy. My vote on the next tribal council is for him to LEAVE!
Title: Re: Survivor Series

Post by: Ron Wenrich on October 06, 2009, 05:29:39 AM
I predict that by the end of the season, everyone will come to like Russel.  He's having fun and he's playing pretty smart.  He has a strong personality.

Last season it was Coach.  He was full of himself.  There was also Boston Rob, who ended up being a big favorite.  Its all in the editing.   ;)

I think they shouldn't have to declare the idol until after the votes are read then if you play it the person with the next most votes goes.

Can anyone think of a survivor player that owned their own business?  Most of these folks work for others and they don't know how to work for themselves.  Russell was hunting for the idol from the get go.  You find what you look for.  Russell gets oil because he looks for oil.  So far this is the best Survivor.  Immunity will play havoc again I am sure.  But it looks 5 to 5 now.

I don't know what was better the look on Dave's face or the look on Laura's when she was voted out. Dave needs to change his name to "Duh". I didn't see Shambo being low class but her gloating almost gave it away. Pretty soon Russell is going to be the next American Idol.

Title: Re: Survivor Series

This is one of the best seasons in my opinion and Russell is one of the craftiest players ever!

The man has idol radar.  It will be interesting to see how he brings it into play.  Jaison has gone very low key and Natalie is too much of a physical threat.
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: Roxie on November 20, 2009, 08:37:33 AM
Wow!  That was awesome!  Apparently the rocket scientist decided not to throw himself under the bus on the second vote.  He's the only one from Galu with a brain now that Laura is gone.  I've been hoping to get Laura outta there, because she was so mean.  I don't blame Shambo for gloating, but gloating on this show is a dangerous game and gives away your strategy.

I was so happy that Natalie and Russell finally got something to eat!   :D

Can you believe that Russell has the THIRD immunity idol?   8)

Lets see which direction he takes next.  He promised John that the next off would be an old Foa Foa member if John would vote Laura on the tie breaker.  Of course, I do not expect that he will live up to that, so John will probably be the next to go  ???.

The preview showed Russell letting the chicken out.  Could be setting Shambo up for the exit. But the show is good about blindsiding us with good editing.

I said just before the vote that you should never kick a live rattlesnake.  John should have held the idol info completely too himself and never mentioned it to Russell.  I felt vindicated when they talk about snakes in the preview for next week.  This is one great series.  Hated to see John go.  I bet Shambo upsets the applecart next week.

I think Russell blew the Immunity Challenge on purpose.  He knew he didn't need it ths week, and winning that thing too often makes you a target (perceived as a threat).  He's smart as a fox, but they appear to be starting to figure him out.

Russel will be hard to take out because Jaison and Natalie are tremendously loyal to him.

How about that Natalie holding on in the challenge?!  She's been my favorite all along and it appears that as the other's get weaker, she is getting stronger.  I'm glad she got her peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a shower.

Anyone with a theory as to why in the world John turned down the option to share the pie?  Man, that was cold!

Maybe he was hungry.  Wasn't the deal, that he could eat a piece of pie, OR he could have a whole pie to divide with everyone but he himself did not get a piece of that if chosen?  I thought thats the way it went. He wanted to eat some!
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: Roxie on December 04, 2009, 08:48:33 AM
I went back and watched the episode again, and Jeff, you are correct.  If he got the four pieces, he could not eat the pie.

I still agree with Russell about the pie, John could have bought a lot of good will if he had given it out.  Then again, a few years ago, Yeoman gave up a pickup truck and got stabbed in the back anyway.   :D

Russell is going to have to go after Mick now because Mick is starting to see through him. He can probably feed Shambo a load of bull and keep her in line a little longer. Jaisson won't win any more challenges because he just does not have depth of will.

I suspected that it would be John.  Russell told Dave that he was going to be voted out, but that he could convince the others to opt for John instead if Dave would vote John too.  He got Dave scared and then managed him just the way he wanted.  Shambo, however, voted Dave and was surprised that John got the axe.  Did you see her face?  I am betting that she turns on him.

When are they gonna eat a chicken?

This Sunday will be the last night, now they have to talk their way through the jury!
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: mrcaptainbob on December 18, 2009, 11:35:10 PM
Russel and company sure stuck to their 'alliance'. Their tribe won out over the other by being loyal and clever. If Russ does make it to the end....I think he'd get everyone's vote. His own tribe because of his tribal loyalty, the jury's because each one of them is the OTHER tribe. And the only reason they are there is because their own tribe mates voted against them! I don't care for Russell's ways, but sure do admire his ability. Finding all the idols with no real clues, never having his name written down. Wow.
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: Ron Wenrich on December 19, 2009, 08:25:10 AM
Uh, his name was written down.  If he hadn't played the idol when he did, he would have been gone, just like Erik.  I can't remember any other time that an idol has been played where it really saved someone.

Russell has outwitted and outplayed everyone on the show.  We'll see if he can outlast them.

I think russell played the idol and wasted it, he didnt have to votes to go home did he, could be wrong ,it was a few shows back, it all depends on how people vote, if they vote who was nicest russell wont win, but if they vote to who played the hardest  the true survior, got to be russell hands down, i do beleive  he will win americas player or whatever they call it

Russell is just a poor excuse for a human being.  He could have played the game just as hard without calling people names and just being a total jerk.  I think he will not be able to get the votes from the jury.  It would be sad if he wins.
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: Roxie on December 19, 2009, 10:55:59 AM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but they will have to survive another double elimination, right?  I think that only three take it to the jury.  I wish I could remember if they play for immunity again before the final elimination.

I do remember that the jury will sometimes give the money to the best player, but they've also been known to give it to the most needy individual.  Remember how Johnny Fairplay lied about his grandmother dying and he won?  It will be interesting to see if Russell is honest about being wealthy.

The remaining players have the following occupations:
Russell - Owner of an oil company
Mick - A doctor (anestesiologist)
Jaison (law student who wants the money to pay off his student loan)
Brett - A tee-shirt designer
Natalie - pharmacutical sales

Interesting, I don't smoke either, I don't drink either.  I wonder if my governor passed a no drinking in public places law if I would then attend such hangouts?  Smoking is not good for your body, if drinking is done in non responsible ways it can be harmful to others, in rather fast and mangling ways.

To stay on topic, are those the real occupation of the players?  If so, interesting selection.

Tim

I will make a prediction that Galu will not support Russell in the final vote if he makes it.  Being all voted off when they had an 8:4 advantage probably sticks in most of them's craws, and they will react accordingly.  I predict that it will be either Jaison or Nick.  But, who knows what kinks and twists remain  ???.

Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: WDH on December 20, 2009, 11:15:32 PM
I felt that one good point that was made was that Natalie's strategy was just as credible as Russell's.

Still, I believe Russell was one of the best players ever, and finding three immunity idols with no clues was awesome.  Just because you are one of the best players does not mean that you win.  He was a little sure of himself at the end, and I believe that cost him the game.  At the end was the time to show a little more humility rather than claim the prize before it was given.  However, he made this season memorable.  Maybe he will be one of the Villains in the upcoming season of Heroes versus Villains.

that coat tail rider shows whats wrong  with the way there teaching people today,  just ride along and its ok if u dont do a good  job and work hard u still get a prize,  but russell winning  the 100 grand  shows he is americas player, the game is survior, not be nice and win, he played hard and should have won the million, IMHO
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: Ron Wenrich on December 21, 2009, 05:40:55 AM
Russell won the game, but couldn't win public opinion.  He outwitted every one of his opponents, but they had the revenge factor working.  So much for a jury of your peers.

I saw a thread on the new Survivor and supposedly Russell is on that one.  He had a huge advantage as no one would have seen how Russell operates.

I wonder how much time is between the tapeing of a show and actually airing it. I noticed the contestants looked pretty healthy and had put on a bunch of weight for the finale last night.
If they have already taped the next season then months must go by.
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: WDH on December 21, 2009, 08:23:56 AM
I heard the other Russell say that he and his wife watched the episode where he collapsed and was removed from the game.  He said that she had not seen that before, and was really upset as she watched how bad it was.  That leads me to believe that there is an extended period of time between taping and airing the episodes.
Title: Re: Survivor Series
Post by: gary on December 21, 2009, 09:10:00 AM
What a season. Russell outplayed everyone, outlasted most of them, but didn't outwit any of them. His biggest mistake was being that snake he talked about. He should have at least made it look like Jaison and Natalie were the ones that wanted someone voted out a few times.
I think it is about 6 months from the taping until the show airs.

During the final immunity challenge, when they were balancing those statues, and only Brett and Russell were left.....that was good TV!   :D

I hope America's voting Russell the best player will soothe his ego.  I was disappointed that he didn't win the top award because he really did put 100% into the game every single day he was there.  I thought Natalie played a smart game, and she was physically amazing at times, but she was no Russell.  She wouldn't have made it without her alliance to Russell.

The Hero's & Villian's Survivor coming in February sounds great.  I hope Yeo-Man comes back on the hero's team.  Anyone have any thoughts on who they'll be bringing back?

Not sure who I dislike more, coach or Boston Robb. The rest were characters, but these two have some serious flaws.
Am really pleased Rupert is on. I wish there was a site to tell of how each of the winners faired after the program. Was it a positive or negative impact on their life. John Baresfertipton (sp?) (The Millionaire) comes to mind.
