My local husky dealer offered me the same price on a 576xp or the 372Xp. I went there to buy a 372 and he told me that he would sell me the 576 at the same price with which ever bar 20. 24, or 28 that I wanted. He said that he wanted to get more of the 576s in the woods. I know the 575 flopped!!! How is the 576?
372 all the way!!! sweet machine.. although id never argue with a man that can carry a 15lb saw in the woods! i would consider a 576 if i was blocking hardwood all day.
stick with the 372. Proven design, and should bring some good money if you tire of it in a few years.
Ditto, stick with the 372. The reason there aren't very many 576's out there is because nobody wants to give up the 372's for a heavier saw with the same power. Yeah, the literature says it's smoother and uses less fuel. But the 372 is a renowned workhorse that is still one of the best power-to-weight saws even 15 years after it's introduction.
Until I start hearing from professional users how the new models are far better than the old models, I'll stick with the old ones. The design of the new saws today is being driven by government regulation and emissions requirements. And that means a heavier saw with less power and more expensive and complicated gimmicks like 'strato charged' in order to reduce emissions. When they perfect fuel injection for saws and can make better power with less weight, then I'll buy. In the meantime, I have four 372's including one brand new unused waiting to go into service.

I went to buy a 372xp and the dealer got me to thinking about the 576xp What was he thinking!!!!!!!! So I walked out without buying a saw. Unless he is trying to keep the 372 for himself :o He is also a dealer of the other brand and never mentioned the 361. ???

Perhaps never mentioned because the 361 is simply not as much saw. You'd need to step up to a Stihl 441 to get in the ballpark of a Husky 372. Similar power, though if I recall the 441 is about a pound heavier??
My dealer had a demo 576, I liked it but im going to wait and see how they hold up. I have four 372's and I would stay with something proven. I have a stihl 441, miserable starting saw when we first got smiley_furious3 it but once it got broke in it turned out to be a decent saw.I think it has more power then a 372 but I dont like how its balanced. Id stick with the 372.
No question - 372xp. That extra weight of the 576xp makes a big difference at the end of the day. Same with the Stihl. The ms440 was a great saw but they discontinued it in favor of the 460. More weight with no real noticeable increase in power.
I would second the 372.
FWIW: I posted digital scale weights of what my 365/372/066 each weighed full with a 20" bar and full comp. Going by the published head weights I would guess the 576 weighs about the same as a 066 (90cc).

more than the 576xp, and has less power....... :)
Im running a 28" bar on my 372xp and it does a great job. The saw has never missed a lick and handles well. It's a great saw.
I agree 372 all the way. Open it up a little and let it shine.

372 for me. I have one 372XP that spent some time with EHP up in Haliburton Ontario and a 372XPW that is still in the sealed box for down the road. A container full of 372XP saws would be a better investment than the stock market.

I would have to agree the 372 over the 576 , I recently purchased a 390 xp only marginal weight difference from the 576 with a lot more power . I just hope it is as durable as the 372 has been . 8)
I would take the 372 over the 576 and not by just abit , the 372 is Huskys best all around saw

All these people would go with a 372 cause they have one. Well they're being phased out. I chose a 576 over the 372 and love it 20% more hp and 80% better fuel economy. It takes awhile to "break-in" the saw but it is supposed to last alot longer between rebuilds. Mine is about broke in now and cuts like crazy alot of torque. The problem Husky is having is the 372 is/was a great saw so no one wants move forward but Husky like all two stroke manufactures(snowmobiles,ect) must meet new emission standards. They had growing pains with the 575 retooled and addressed those issues and came out with another great saw that meets or exceeds new emissions standards. Don't be afraid of the new technology this thing rips its a torque monster the only down side is its a long time before you give yourself a break "when I burn though this tank" LOL.
Remember we all drove carbureted cars at one time now there all injected and everything is fine.
Oh by the way well I was there I bought a 346xp as a light limb saw WOW what a great little saw highly recommend that one.
cb6048 what have you owned for saws before? I'll be in the market soon for a winter saw with heated handles and I'd like more opinions. I have three 288XPs right now and before that it was 922 Homelite. My oldest 288 never runs in the winter much as it has no decompression for my girlie arms :D . Smaller may be better as I get older and have no plans to start body building ;D
Not sure how much power you need for your "winter saw" but that 346xp is the bomb.....light and it screams I wouldn't shy away from 20" bar on it. Saws I've owned?? ole blue homelite manuel oiler, husky 61, three 257's, 266se (that pulled over like a truck) and now I traded in 266se and 257 toward my latest.......a 576xp(actually my 2nd as I dropped a big oak on the first two tanks out) and a 346xp. Very happy with my current two saws (576,346xps) and can't see me buying another.
