Post by: sigidi on January 23, 2010, 05:56:29 PM
Hey there everybody!! 8)

I've been away for awhile, hope things haven't changed too much while I've been gone ;D

I've gotta learn how to upload pics again and then I'll show ya what's kept me away for so long.  ;)

Uploading is pretty easy now Sigidi, just don't listen to those guys on the chainsaw board. If it dont burn two stroke they can't figure it out.   Use the link below your posting box that says Java Uploader (re-sizes for you)  You might possibly have to upgrade your java if its old. and you can do that here:
http://www.java.com/en/

Welcome Home. :)

Thanks heaps Jeff,

great to see you're still here!! Last I recall you had some shoulder trouble and where facing the knife... many moons ago now.

Also just to check is "DanG" still the official FF cuss-word? ;D

First go using the 'new' way;

Beenthere, I knew Jeff runs the forum, just Aussie humor.

Coon, the species is commonly called Bluegum, or Forest Red Gum (Euc. Tereticornis) depending on which part of Aus you live in, green it is 1150kg (2530lb) per cubic metre (or 424bft) This is a close-up of the grain patterns the log ad all the way through her;

Really pretty stuff, it was takin 45min to cut each slab on my Lucas slabber. Here, one slab could retail for about $1,200 AU this tree and it's limbs kept me busy for 4 days solid.

Nice bit of fiddle in that piece of blue gum do you have the planer for the lucas thats a perfect job for em ive got one for my 8-20 thats done a great job on the jobs ive done with it like refacing 10"x8"x21' recycled Ironbark bridge beams out of a local bridge my grand father had cut those beams for back in about 1956 and planing grey box and cypress slabs  ;) ;D ;D 8) 8)
Ive cut up some realy nice River red gum logs over the years into 10x6"x9' rail sleepers with my cousin  when i was younger 13to17yo that had some nice grain and fiddle in them that would have been better either slabed or sawn into furniture timbers it always seemed a waste to me when we got that odd log that could have had a higher use just went into sleepers :( :'( ;)

Do you have any pics of your home your building Id love to see some Mate  ;) ;D ;D 8) 8)

Regards Chris

Hey Chris,

Yeah I've got the planing head and the sanding kit for the Lucas, as well as slabbing attachment of course, but that bluey was for a customer, so I'm destined to never see them again :'(

Building pics - are you sure mate? I can talk about milling all day (that's why I had to leave the forum before, didn't get anything done!! :D Wifey was getting upset with me) especially when it's about me milling ;D
