Title: First timberframing project
Post by: icolquhoun on March 30, 2010, 08:43:17 AM
Hi,
I just completed my first project.
It's going to be a clothes drying post that 4 lines will run from to the house to dry clothes on and hopefully reduce our electric bills this summer!

Post and "beam" are roughly 5"x7" cut from tulip poplar
Braces are sweet birch cut at 3 1/4"x5"
Pegs are red oak (yes, seasoned)

I cut everything on my LM2000, and it's green wood felled less than two weeks ago from storm damaged trees.

I plan on sealing the bottom of the poplar post before I put it in the ground with a few coats of anchorseal or something similiar.  I have been considering using a sealing beeswax for everything and leaving it like that.

All criticism and comments welcome, it's my first time doing something like this, and I have a lot to learn.
