How often do you guys check and adjust you bandmill alignment.??After several moves and years of use noticed 1/16 " clapboard taper on a wide board.Today is alignment day thank goodness everything is adjustable.Frank C.
You must have noticed it on your "dog board". I like to check it by flipping a cant. That way the misalignment affect is doubled and is more noticeable.
Yup, grab that old steel ruler and spend some quality time with the old gal. Both of you will be happier..... ;) :D
I always check mill alignment between sawjobs.
During the Winter months, while I'm not sawing, I go through the whole alignment process on the mill.
I also do like MM said, flip a cant and you can tell real quick if the mill is out of alignment.
Easier than I thought replaced a couple of my guide bearings, leveled the carriage, bed, and band.Glad I took time when building it to fit the parts carefully and make everything adjustable a good quality level and accurate rule pretty much cover it.Cut a spruce log just to check things right on the nose side to side end to end.Frank C.
I usually check blade to bed rails every few days or if I see a problem. I think that when I see a problem, it is because I had not squared the cant correctly, too much pressure on log clamp many times tilting cant slightly. I go through a full check of alignment based on the maint manual every 50 hours.
