Title: Farmer loses 200 cows
Post by: Tom on May 30, 2010, 07:05:25 PM
A Quebec Farmer lost 200 dairy cows (http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/2010/05/27/compton-fire-kills-cows.html?ref=rss&loomia_si=t0:a16:g2:r2:c0.047707:b34437302) to electrocution and a barn fire.  I'll bet this was a difficult pill to swallow.

Easy,

Drag your cursor over the first few words in Tom's post. There's a clue there.

Tom's the last person on this forum that would leave out details.

There was a large barn fire in my area last week.  Farmer lost 100+ dairy cows.  Everyone was out haying so they couldnt catch it in time.  About 60 cows and their alpacas were saved.  What good are alpacas anyways? seems like it was just a tourism thing for them.   Too bad though, gonna be very hard to start over after a loss like that, for both farmers.

That's just sad.  Even if they are stoopid cows.

Did you read this comment under the article?   Is this guy serious?  ::)

"This is very sad for the poor cows that suffered such a terrible death. This is nothing to joke about.

Many of you who find this to be funny or don't give a *DanG should consider that the bovine species unwillingly give up their lives to nourish humans and we shouldn't treat them so callously. How would you like it if you were enslaved and made as part of the food chain of another species in mass market farming?

Nothing pisses me off more than when I see someone eating beef like a steak and they can't eat it all and callously toss it into the garbage. I'm no saint myself and I love the taste of meat. But how would you like it if someone slaughtered you and then only ate 3/4s of you and tossed the rest of you away into the garbage? It shows a lack of respect to the animal who died for your benefit. You all need to consider this.

If you take the time to thank God or whomever you believe to be your maker when you sit down to eat..you should also thank the cow or whatever animal who died for you, so you could eat. Laugh all you want but have some respect."

that sucks....producing dairy cows are pretty valuable...

The alpacas are valuable for their wool...the prices alpaca wool bring are astronomical...fuzzy little buggers are expensive too...

Sad about the loss of cattle. That's a horrible death for any critter.

And on another topic, they make woolens from bison hair in PEI. Well...since we're talking about alpacas. ;D
