Post by: Kevin on October 11, 2001, 10:41:26 AM
Did I miss something inapropriate?

Guess I missed it too, darn. :D

I have heard that "naughty" internet sites will buy IP addresses from legit, defunct companies to try to lure people in.  Is this what happened?

Exactly Swamp.

I am just sick right now. This was a teacher that reported this who's class was involved in the tree of hope web contest.

As per the license agreement for using the Yabb software (Yet another bulletin board)  I maintained a link to them at the bottom of the pages that said "Powered by Yabb".  Well, sometime recently the content of that site changed.

I was so worried about security and content of the contest, and here I am blind sided on my own site. I am not happy. I know its not my fault, and I had it removed within minutes of the phone call (My wife came right to the mill, and I raced home right then and there), but I still feel responsible and as I said, am just sick.

Jeff, don`t worry about it.
It`s a done deal and you did what you had to do.
Do you still have the link?  ;D

Jeff,
That's tough, blindsided by the software.  Especially b/c kids were using the site.  Let me just say that I'm sure everyone appreciates you running this site (I'm sure the bulletin board ain't paying real well) and understands that this isn't your full time job.  I wouldn't worry about it too much.
