Title: rotobec on john deere 110
Post by: Emajsh on August 07, 2010, 11:48:09 AM
I was wondering if anyone has mounted a rotobec on a john deere excavator, and if so what i would need to do. The excavator is already plumbed but i think i would need two sets rather than just one. Any info or pictures would be great, thanks

you will need 2 valves.....you have 1....when i put a thumb on my cat exc. it wasnt plumbed but there was a valve in the valve bank for it just had to add a piolt valve. use the one to the bucket cyl. one thing to check is how many psi the rotobec can handle. my cat makes 4500psi.

snowstorm-
Would the open space in the valve bank still be available to tie into if i already have one set of lines? I'm sure it is possible to do because some machines have hydro thumb plus wrist and that would require two sets of lines. I'm just not sure where to run lines from. I have an older jd 70d parts excavator that i can rob parts from such as valves and what not

treefarmer87-
I think it will be a great setup if i can get it to come together, it has a wain roy coupler on it now so if i can make a bracket to fit that and couplers for the lines it could be a quick attach log loader. Plus it has a mechanical thumb that i could use to stabilize the logs like a slasher would have

it may use a diverter valve. just take the bucket cyl. off plumb that to the grapple cyl

Emajsh, Your best bet is to call Rotobec in Littleton, NH. Mike Currier is the manager and I am sure he will help you out with your questions. His number is: 603-444-2103. I was thinking about putting one on my Volvo excavator and he was a wealth of information. Let us know how you make out.
